I'm sending my low-mileage 1997 Honda Accord cluster to them this week to get the speedometer fixed. $165 quoted price.

Or buy a used one locally. I imagine that a mechanic would charge a lot to install it.

I once bought a refurbished radiator frame from a junk yard. I asked the guy for an estimate for the installation. All he would say is that’s going to be a big job and it would take all day.

I wound up doing it myself. I should have listened to the mechanic. Drain and remove the rad. Remove the front bumper. Unbolt a lot of stuff. It basically tied the front end of the car together with seized bolts. It took ten hours and crippled my back for a lot longer.

Now I’m wondering if the packages will ever actually arrive. In the shipped notice, the delivery times are estimated as up to two months.

Yup, done that. Stuff I ordered from China has always arrived, eventually. I think some of their stuff ships by sailing vessel...and not the Cutty Sark, either.

No right angle ones, for starters. I looked at them as a possibility for this project though. I wanted standard D connectors for the panel ends so I can swap to a locking TS connector on the bass if I don't like how my tentative format works out. I'm thinking +/- 15V rails and stereo output for starters. Tube amp for slide, something very clean and hi-fi for the rest.

Usually takes ten days max for me, they just quote for worldwide and Italy or somewhere else apparently takes months. 50/50 or so on counterfeit parts though. Even my favorite vendor who's an authorized Wima dealer has sent me questionable parts a few times. But I've always been able to use what I bought, so far.

My luthier friend gifted me this bass. The only condition was that I couldn't just wire it normally. I live to serve, or is that perve?

Rather than carry the rails through the cable....I've used this DC/DC converter and a 5V input to generate +/-15 to get headroom in pedals.

Cool, looks a lot simpler than the other ones I've seen. I may also try 30 or 48 volts at some point, especially if I go with discrete FETs.

My answer is that nothing is wrong with that picture if (and only if) you're the guy installing one of your custom designed active systems on-board a bass guitar (that is likely equally tricked out from the luthier perspective)...of course I could be wrong...but it seems unlikely based on cool stuff you've designed in the past

Thanks Al. I forgot my usual disclaimer of "don't try this at home." But actually, this isn't my first rodeo with outboard power. However, for the last two years everything I've built has been done with an eye toward current consumption vs. sound quality trades. This time I get more of a white sheet, although size constraints are still a real consideration. Here's the bass in question, but more knobs and/or switches are at least a possibility.
