My best friend lived to be over 21 years old. We had a great life together.

Them not living long is difficult. We do it because they enrich our lives and help us to be better people.

My wife and I adopted rescue dogs for many years. They were older and many had health issues. The medical expenses were major but, they seemed to know that they finally had a loving family. They were only with us for a relatively short time. I was the one that had to take them for their last ride. I finally said that I had had enough...end of my story.

My username implies that I should be an expert on the subject of flatulance. When I was signing up for TalkBass, all the user names that I tried were taken. This went on and on. In an act of despiration, I tried beans-on-toast which is a veiled Beatles reference. It was available, so I ran with it.

Dont even get me started on animal intelligence. During the past 22 years about 1100 parrots have passed through my shelter, and a lot of them were way too smart for comfort. My first bird was a cherryhead conure named Beaker. He used to ride my shoulder a lot, and when he was irritated, he'd nip my ear. I'd say, "Dont bite!" His response was always, "It's the dog!"

Horses are the GOFs of the animal world. Nobody can hold a grudge like a horse .

... rescue horses are too sad for me to even entertain working with. But it can be done. The harm I see done to horses is too deep for me to fully digest. It just comes up.

(actually on the verge of repurposing my (day)work for Only Animals. ... yes I retired and work as many hours as I did in the old gig. There's no figuring. Or no good deed goes unpunished. Something like that.)

That’s the one. Hope that you like it. The appeal to me is not only the well know tunes but also the lesser known ones. B-sides are great.

Not sure about later editions. Mine must be the initial CD release, date 1991. It sounds good to me. I saw a later one issued by Rhino. Their products are always very good. Reissues are normally cleaned up in terms of noise and an improvement in mastering.

Not to further tempt you. Also check out the six CD set, The R&B Box: 30 Years of Rhythm & Blues from Rhino. But you didn’t hear that from me.

Hey, @beans-on-toast, your recommendation for the 9 CD set was spot-on. Mine arrived with the Rhino label. I copied them over to my PC in iTunes>Apple lossless yesterday. Have only listened to a few CD's but, what I have heard is fantastic! Definitely a must-have for anyone who appreciates Stax music from that time. Thanks again for the recommendation...Soulful Sunday just got an injection .

I wouldn’t mind having a wayback machine so that I could go back and attend famous concerts. Bands paying their dues by playing house parties, coffee houses, dives, community centers, and school dances before they got their break.

Been to the woodstock area. People that still live in the 60’s reside there. Levon Helm had a farm in the area and put on regular shows in his barn/studio. He’d visit with anyone that stopped by. He was that sort of person.

Homespun tapes grew out of Woodstock. Quality instruction, mostly folk related. Rick Danko did a couple of videos.
