My mom's mother's family left Carlow during the famine in 1845. Her father left Meath rather suddenly in 1921. The town mom grew up in is called Emmetsburg. The statue of Robert Emmett in front of the courthouse has a noose around his neck. In the schools there, when arranging students alphabetically, they dont use any Os. I'll stop there out of respect to forum rules about politics.
Happy anniversary! I have to disagree about it being a very long time, though...it'll be 50 years for us next month. Of course, I was only 4 years old when we married.![]()
