Talk about
old, the bassist pictured at left knows how to use those letters. She would, actually, as one fluent in Middle English and passably familiar with Old English. And reads the runes.
And in the spirit of GOFs, "in the day" only mens are permitted to create runes. The rune stones they carve might read like:
I, Humongous, built this bridge on the occasion of the marriage of .... Roof beams, door frames are hewed to embed multiple runes that carry the combined meaning of individual runes. Kind of like a rune sentence in a single rune that protects and blesses the dwelling.
It's the wimmenfolk who read the runes for divination. She never touches the runes and instead draws them from her bag with rabbit fur mittens.
Little harder to make a steady living reading the runes these days. Never all that far from that sort of thing, really. The first people to overstay their visas in the new world built the house with a shoe in the chimney to protect and bless the house (now a museum in West Haven, Connecticut). Living high on the hog there, what with nine or ten people (and sheep) sharing a one-room cottage in Ireland... That's the old, old cottage, not the old cottage where the man who lived there only put electricity in about 1990 or so .... Prayer beads still right where he left them.
The new cottage, well, as they say at TB no pic, didn't happen, so here at the new cottage

Something other than a rune but there it, is and the company here is top drawer.
Back here in the pleasant company of GOFs we observe how talk about the new forensic proctologist is not considered polite dinner conversation, and deduce it best to avoid asking
why there is a new one.
Oh yeah forgot about Travis Bean. Pretty certain I seen one "back in the day". Pretty much always on the lookout "in the day" for any bass that's not a P or J. Because every bass is a P or J and that guy playing the Ripper is a standout. And everyone I know with a P or J has done
something with it, brass nuts are big, same as Seymour Duncan is big and not a one of them gives a [noun} about the value of that P bass 40 years down the road.
