(upon reflection the machine appears a very simple thing to defeat. This is a guy thing I see and said too much bye)

As mentioned to @beans-on-toast, recently, if anyone is looking for a newer 40" smart tv with connection to a computer, I can highly recommend the Vizio HDTV - D40f-G9. I picked one up yesterday for $199 at Target. It boots up fast, has lots of options and looks great for computer, DVD, apps and is relatively easy to set up. Most of all, it's easy on these old eyes...;).

Glad that you are pleased with your new purchase.

What is it about appliances these days needing internal computers to bood for them to run. My oscilloscope is unix (linux) based, a high resolution user interface sits on top, it has a touch screen and HDTV display port, even a web site that you can connect to. I have other equipment that’s the same. Things are certainly complicated today.

It’s a good thing that car computers boot quickly and never seem to crash while you’re driving them. Well, except for the entertainment system that can get confused and forgetful.

I don’t know about that. Women and men can both be equally dangerous when in a vehicle. A high end SUV, is like a tank in the minds of some in them. That false sense of protection allows some to feel free to express their road rage. Women can be as ruthless as men when ensconsed on their perch when it comes to rude road behaviour. I often see a lack of civility when people are stuck in downtown traffic.

Traditionally, the female’s job was to build and fill the nest. The male’s job was to provide food and protect the family from interlopers. Arming themselves with tools is an extension of that, and a product of today’s society.

Things have changed for some, there are saner places to reside, both physically and mentally.

I am amazed at the drivers who tailgate, speed, pass on the right and cut people off...I am sad to say that a growing majority of those drivers are female. Just a personal observation and maybe a sign of the times :eek:.

You wouldn’t want to sigal your intent while driving. That would give the driver following you an unfair advantage. :laugh:

Passing on the right is legal here in California. I come from a state where it is not and freaked out one day when my husband passed a highway patrol car on the right. He acted like I had lost my mind; I had to look it up because I was sure we were going to get pulled over. Nope. He was completely within his legal right.

I was once on a country road stuck behind a car that was driving the suggested speed limit. After about 15 minutes, I decided to slowly pass him. It was then that I noticed that the door had a badge and the word Sheriff on it, otherwise it was unmarked. I thought that I was done for. Happily, he didn’t pull me over. Rather than be stuck behind me, he turned around.

I’ve always driven cop car models. Cops have never given me a ticket. Maybe there’s something in that.
