The problem to me is not about the old part, specifically. The problem as I see it is the part of me who is 17 isn't all that pleased about it. And in part .... this is pretty much a verbatim dialogue I am having with my hairdresser Wednesday (pics or it didn't happen rule)

Me: I just did my roots a week ago. It's quite close to my hair colour when I was 20.
[We] boring technical talk
She: I didn't know you could do that.
Me: What I notice is, if I don't do my roots regularly, they automatically give me a senior citizen discount at Dunkin' Donuts.
She: You're kidding?
Me: And now they always charge me full price.

I have a skunk stripe of grey hair that's right where I normally part it. The hair in back is still as dark as it ever was, and the hair at my temples is a bit salt and pepper. At least, that's what I think it looks like, as I haven't really let it grow out for years.

I was doing blonde for quite a while because I was a blonde kid and it actually looks better on me than the darker color I became. My eyebrows never got dark. But then I damaged my hair by accidentally leaving the blonde toner on for too long. So now I'm transitioning to a darker color but doing blue with silver ends first and I'll probably end up going either full blue or something more natural but dark. I miss my blonde locks though. I find that I can let it grow out longer because the grey blends well with the blonde at the roots. It will probably be six months to a year before I can do that again. Bummer.

Henna day is my personal therapy day.

Of course "everybody" knows your hair only goes red with henna, from red to Red to RED. (And if you're not all right with that, the only fix is scissors.) But in the proper proportions I get my natural strawberry blonde where the hair's gone grey. Older blonde hair goes red so there's a mix where it's longer. Except I just had a bunch cut off as we work to undo a thin-ing I agreed to almost two years ago :banghead: But it was going fairy tale ends anyway so it's all good. Anyway the more I go grey the more I hold my original colour (with some help).

I've done red before. Went from blue to red to blonde last year.
