Those were the days (I guess).
That SA must have really been a GC in disguise! My local SA has been great, to me over the years. To be fair, there were a couple of things I've bought from my Local GC that turned out to be excellent deals, too, mostly small stuff, like Hipshot tuning keys and my Radial ProD2, where they sold them to me for an insanely cheap price.

The end is nigh for music stores.

Why is it when you say “thank you” to a salesperson in a store after a transaction is complete, the typical response is “no problem”. What happened to “you’re welcome”.
Are they able to fulfill Rickenbacker orders in a timely way?
You got a problem with that, buddy?
Don't really know. They always have some in-stock, but anything new I have ordered in the past has been through smaller, specialty shops like The Music Connection ('04 4004Cii Mapleglo), Pick of the Ricks ('11 4004L Ruby - 2012 NAMM Show bass, but that was prearranged with RIC; '13 4004L Snowglo), or North Coast Music ('07 660 75th Anniversary DCM). IIRC, the only Rick I ever bought in-store and walked out with was the '01 730/12L, and that was used, at POTR. Otherwise, I just buy what's in-stock, already.

Society is a lot less polite than it used to be.
Many of the small towns that I drive through on the weekend have set up speed indicators on the side of the road that display how fast fast you’re going. In one town, you get a green thumbs up, if you are within the recommended speed limit. If you are speeding, you get a red middle finger display.

What it appears to me is there was a great deal of surface politeness "then" and "now" that veneer is gone.
A lot of that politeness was just "what you do". "how are you?", "fine, and you?" Then silence. When I check out at the grocery, I hear "how are you today?", I answer, "strange." Then we actually talk to each other.

Not being weird is kind of weird, innit?
Friends shaking hands saying how do you do. Talking about the weather. Saying something nice. That’s how people greet in a polite society.
Weird is relative, at least most relatives.

My answer is usually, "I don't know how I am...my wife hasn't told me." That also starts conversations.
However, we had our 50th anniversary this week...I remembered and she didnt. ..so I can get away with many things
