Unindited felon (ah the 70's). Retired, a little crippled, and grinning every day. C&S 27 years.
1000 watt "practice" amp (I like lots of headroom).

"You call that crap music???!!!! I'll show you REAL music!!!!!" To my 13 year old daughter as I put on a Neville Brothers CD.

Does anyone have any techniques or tips on doing grumpy? For example I find being extremely hard on myself makes it a lot easier to be unforgiving to everyone else.

When you see/hear the same irritating question/statement/whining just let your mouth slam into gear without engaging the brain

Not even close to being old enough. My third real amp was a brand new 130HD! The first was a used blackface Bassman. 50 watts and a rectifier tube...worthless for bass guitar.

I think the Fender Bassman amp I had back in the early 70s was 100W and I can't remember if was a black or silver face - but I think it was blackfaced too. Oh and my first amp was a Saint George amp.

Hey, I'm retiring from my 'day' job thursday, got a new years eve gig tomorrow nite, plus others scheduled, the 8th grandchild just got here before christmas, my fellow workers gave me a transparent orange P bass as my gold watch (which I promptly changed to a jazz neck on) and I get #50!?!?!?? I haven't been fifty in 12 years!! What kinda show you running here?
