I've seen a similar one operating outside in a square, it had additional instruments including drums. What I remember is that it was nothing like anything that I've seen and was hard to take in all at once. It was also very loud.

Sorry, all. I had a post up here earlier for a microsecond, then deleted it. Whining about band personnel stuff, but there are things I probably need to keep to myself, since this is a pretty small town. I'll just say that my enthusiasm for dealing with other musicians has taken a hit lately, and I'm not sure I'm going to follow through with the plans I was making to start another band where I could sing. I might be happier just writing my own stuff in my own studio at this point.

It's not exactly jerks. It's more complicated than that, but in a sort of sad-and-serious-but-also-annoying way. Can I just say that people can be unreliable, through no fault of their own, but yet due to their own negligence? I think I can say that.

I do have a guitar player who wants to jam. I'm moving forward with that so we'll see how it goes. Maybe I'll get lucky.

IDK if this applies to your situation, but as I get older, life seems to get in the way of what I(or the group)wanna do-family, other responsibilities,etc.

I find depending on others to have the same degree of commitment as I do to things is not easy. Even when people have a high level of commitment and reputation for follow-through life does seem to dictate non-negotiable terms sometimes. And truth be told, I even end up disappointing myself on occasion.

Ugghhh. I'm in a similar boat at the moment. Something new and cool has seemed imminent a few times, but it's just not gelling so far. OTOH, my musical tech work has never been better, so it's not all gloom here.

We [the core family unit overseen by the patriarch] played Herman's Hermits on 8 Track in the car. Also, Johnny Cash. Friend's father played Sousa marches on 8 Track as we went [somewhere and back]. Riding with these men at the wheel feels scary close to a real life Jean Shepard's America.

Thesis: the ultimate find at the swap meet is Shocking Blue on 8 Track. Never a treasure so rare.

A group that I was in did Henry the Eighth, we changed the words.

There’s a used record shop around the corner that, last weekend, had their window plastered with 8-track cassettes. I’ll have to take a closer look next time I pass by.


Seems that there’s still a market for them as borne out by this web site.

It seems that there’s a youtube market for kids potty training songs. Henry the Eighth was along that line. Interesting to note, people actually get paid for posting on youtube, some make a living at it.

Release Me (potty song rewritten as: please release it, let it go, I don’t want it any more) was written in 1949 and rerecorded by a host of artists through the 50’s and 60’s. Englebert Humperdinck‘s spring 1967 version kept Strawberry Fields Forever out of the number one spot in the UK.(Release Me (Eddie Miller song) - Wikipedia)
