When I was going through HS and college I worked as mechanic and got to service a few Hawks and Larks, but my favorite Studebaker was the Avanti. The Avanti was an impressible vehicle. IIRC Packard bought Studebaker and as good as Packard was, Studebaker actually outlived it's partner in terms of production. .
Beautiful car!

Not mine, unfortunately. 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk.

And an Avanti:

We visited a city about 150 miles away last weekend where we used to live over 40 years ago. It’s amazing how things change. There was a street nearby that was lined with stores, most were fairly new. We bought our groceries there. I bought Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours on vinyl, there were no CD’s at the time. I bought my Apple II computer there which sent me down a different path in life.

Every building on the street has been torn down and replaced with box stores. The replacement buildings are now on their last legs. The neighbourhood is a dump.

I still listen to Rumours. It doesn’t seem dated like places in that neighbourhood. Folks like to find connections and revisit the past, a time when many aspects were better and life was simpler. Old cars, vintage instruments, songs from the past. We aren’t stuck in the past, we simply go our own way based on our life experience. The good stuff stays with us.

I’m sitting here in the kitchen looking out at a beautiful English Spring day. The sun is shining and the birds are out searching for food. We have Magpies, Pigeons, some Crows, Doves plus a plethora of little birds.

Another one of the brothers is taking us out for supper this evening. :)
Well, that sounds quite lovely! I'm just waking up, coffee in hand, four small dogs snuggled up to my right and beyond them is a husband who is staying home from work because his back hurts. He still has a gig to play tonight so he will end up attempting to function at some point. I feel bad for him.

My plans for the day are to take care of a couple of petsitting jobs, do some gardening and laundry and then practice, with or without my drummer friend, depending on whether he makes it over here today. The presence of drummer dictates whether I practice in my spare room or garage studio. It's likely to be a beautiful day today so I'm going to be a little surly about having to be indoors.

"Surly to bed and surly to rise....". Never mind.:bag:

A guy spots a sign outside a house that reads, "Talking Dog for Sale."

Intrigued, he walks in. "So what have you done with your life?" he asks the dog.

"I've led a very full life," says the dog. "I lived in the Alps rescuing avalanche victims. Then I served my country in Iraq. And now I spend my days reading to the residents of a retirement home."

The guy is flabbergasted. He asks the dog's owner, "Why on earth would you want to get rid of an incredible dog like that?"

The owner says, "Because he's a liar! He never did any of that!"

Drummer came, drummer helped hubby load up his car, practice happened, hubby left, drummer left, and I still have time to be sipping wine in the back yard tonight. Could be way worse.
