Some in the 50's had the custom upholsterer made plastic covers on their car seats as well.

Even though the sofa in the living room had a cover, you weren't allowed to sit on it. There was another living room in the basement for that.

I remember these. I especially remember getting into the car with these wearing shorts in 100+ degree Fahrenheit temperatures. Ouch.

Yeah I was going to say that and thought better of it. Getting off the car seat while wearing shorts is another story. A different but similar story involves leather seats.

When I was in in high school (I think I remember some of that, still) we'd go to the Midnight Movies at Heights Art Theater on Coventry for some of the wackiest films, mostly shorts, sometimes features (like Flesh Gordon, and Rocky Horror Picture Show). Those days nights are what turned me into the model citizen that I am, now. :) :D
