Is it any wonder that kids today simply sit and stare at electronic devices? I mean if they get up to go play outside they are immediately cautioned that they could trip on the rug or fall on the sidewalk and hurt themselves if not wearing protective clothing and a helmet. That's what we missed!! :)

For the record, I'm not against safety awareness. I'm just against letting insurance companies, governments and lawyers dictate every aspect of my life and requiring helmets, padded suits and ear protection just to walk down a busy street.

Well said!! Experience is the best teacher!! Class Action law suites do not teach, another law does not teach. Laws only make lawyers rich.

Think of the possibilities for recharging your preamp battery. Piezo under your bridge sending electricity to the battery. Energy in plucking your strings is recycled. Now this would be silly if I said that the piezos were also in your shoes, or would it.

Water was fine if freezing wasn’t an issue. Oakies in the dust bowl didn’t have to worry about freezing. I’ve used it in my old cars.

Glycol additives were introduced around WWII in inline piston aircraft engines. They needed to increase the boiling point of the fluid so various mixtures of water and ethylene glycol were used.

In vehicles ethylene glycol and water mixed 50:50 raises the boiling point a bit but more importantly lowers the freezing point from 0 degC to -37 degC. Hence, the name antifreeze. Increase the glycol and the mixture and the freezing point can be lowered even more. Other additives prevent corrosion.

Seeing that old MG brought back some fond memories. My dad went into accounting so in reality , he was a bit of a nerd. He did however have one really cool friend , Barry. When I was about 4 years old , Barry had an MG like the one in the pics above. One day he asked me if I wanted a ride in it. Dad was a bit hesitant but finally OKd it. I was in heaven. That was the coolest ride I had ever taken up to that point. A couple years later , Barry picked up a "56 Crown Vic. Blue and white. Sounded really good and ran like a bat outta ..... yeah , that place. I think it had a 312 in it. We were down at my Grandads cottage and Barry had to get home for work the next day. Dad had a couple of days off and I had to be back in school the next day. Seven years old and 60 miles riding shotgun in a Crown Vic. Freekin awesome.
I didn't see Barry for many years after that. One night , I was sitting outside a 7 11 suckin on a slurpee at 1 in the morning and a white van pulled up. The guy got out , went in and picked up a couple of six packs. He looked familiar. As he was coming out I got up and asked him "Are you Barry." He said yeah and I re introduced my self. We ended up sitting outside that 7 11 for about two hours. It was great. And yeah , we talked about that old MG and the Crown Vic among other things. That was almost 40 years ago and I haven't seen him since.
On another note , the tomatoes , squash , radishes and basil went in the garden yesterday. They should be awesome as we dumped a truck load of cow poop in the garden before we tilled it up this year. Now we wait.:thumbsup:

It's odd. Triggered some old memories. My mom used to use the term Oakies when poor non-native people would move to Sitka. Then I got in trouble for asking her if she liked being called an Injun! Whoops, there's goes my allowance for a month.. :laugh:
But literally-- it's been over 40 years since I heard that term... interesting bit of history..

They were unwanted migrants in California. They went there because there were jobs harvesting crops. There were too many people so they lived in camps. There were very few extra jobs for the day for those waiting. Desperate times.
