There prolly wasn't much definition to my notes(IIRC tone was around 7)but there was no lack of bottom.

and yet "loud" is often a leading criteria over in the amps & cabs space.

Already regretting saying this but that is a guy thing if I ever saw one.
I seriously doubt that I was all that loud. I was full!
Some of the better bass players never had an amp and cab.
I had a Höfner 500/1V63 a few years ago; another member of TB owns that wonderful bass nowadays, he plays it in church on Sundays in Sydney, Australia!
Some players find it easy to pick up songs by ear, others struggle. This bird is an amazing performer with a natural talent. All in an effort to attract a mate.

"Back in the day", I found the choice of either one quite handy.
Maybe Odin is just trying to get your attention. There’s plenty of sticks outdoors that want to be chased.

Mingus would use 'em when it was absolutely needed, but he tended to just tell the audience to shut up on club dates like the one I caught. Not quite as nicely as that though. And we did, and it was good.

The wife of one of my coworkers admits to getting stimulated by the sound of a chainsaw. Rather quirky (aren't we all?), IMO...

Up at my last house there was a Scrub Jay who was enthralled by my slide bass, especially when I did feedback with it. He'd sit on the windowsill outside our jam space with his head cocked, just checking it out. Praise Jah that he never learned to mimic that sound and pass it on the the whole Psycho Jay clan. Especially since I only moved across the street!

Perhaps not so quirky...
An evolutionary advantage of women having better high frequency hearing is that they can hear a baby crying and respond to their feeding needs. Maybe the chain saw subconsciously triggers that response.
