Yeh it felt weird to mourn him when I felt like I was one of a dozen people who even knew who he is. And Gilli Smyth too. My friend Anne's eyes like popped out when I told her Gilli's stage name LOL
At present not a reliable source as one without a TV and no particular inclination for another
In this city you have to have a wide screen TV. How else would you watch the Raptors?
Last night the ‘fans’ earned a black mark for cheering when the Warriors player hurt himself. Please believe me when I tell you this in not something that generally happens here!

Mariachi Music goes well with a fine burrito, salsa verde, a Victoria or two...between 3 or 4:00p and dawn...

I had(OK, still have-in a box)a Hy-Gain Utopia base station that came with 23 channels, upper and lower sideband. It has a coupla toggles that put it in unlawful territoryMe too...back then I had a single side-band CB with 1/2 channels. Built a 4 element quad (wire) antenna and mounted it on a 36' telescoping tower. During skip conditions, talked regularly to contacts in Australia, most of the US and into Europe. All with the legal, 5 watts (no boot). Those were fun times
. I also have all 5 CBs I bought in my 18 wheeler days. I'm not certain why.
I just remembered-the HyGain's manual showed a pic of the inside of the radio with a 'spot shadow' and the 'warning' "do not cut or disconnect this wire as it will cause the radio to transmit 30w, which is illegal according to FCC regulations." Already cut when I bought it 2nd hand.

Just got back for a quick two day trip to the Oregon coast. We wanted to beat the forecasted heat wave at home and we actually needed sweatshirts at the beach this morning. On the way back the car's thermometer hit 100 degrees for a bit as we went through Portland.
Highlights included the Tillamook Creamery new visitor's center, which opened last year and makes the factory tour actually pretty pleasant, given the huge number of people who go there every day. Blood orange and cream ice cream got the call from both my wife and me, it was delicious.
But before dessert we had to go up the Pacific Seafood facility I mentioned a few weeks back. I think the ones we had fried for lunch up were shucked on the spot, this place does not fool around. They've revamped the kitchen and service model and this was our best of many excellent experiences with this joint. It's not priced like a tourist trap at all either. As we left they were unloading this truck very efficiently, it was clear that they do this many times a day.
Then on to one of the less well known beaches, which is accessed via a somewhat obscure but pretty huge county campground. This place has cool tide pools and we lucked into a dead low tide. Then we hiked out to the jetty and saw a big flock of gulls checking out two of the coolest kites we'd ever seen. They looked just like Bald Eagles, but were hovering way too perfectly in the 20-25 mph winds to be real, or so we thought. But as we got within about 50 yards of them one suddenly trimmed out its wingtips and peeled off, back out to sea and across the bar entrance to what turned out to be a working nest on the opposite jetty's end. The second one apparently hovered a few feet over my head for a while, but my wife didn't want to spook it and didn't tell me or even manage to get a pic. We saw at least 6 or 7 Baldies over the two days, the first time I recall seeing any along this stretch of the coast, which I've visited dozens of times over the years.
When we got to the hotel in Manzanita we were greeted with this view, with about a dozen other kitesurfers also enjoying perfect conditions directly across the street from our room. The ocean is always seriously cold on the north OR coast though, 54 degrees F today.

That's like subscribing to a pron channel on teeve and telling the kids not to turn to channel 69.

Learned everything about the subject in movies starring Burt Reynolds and Paul Williams.
Years ago , I picked up a Super Radio ll for use on the construction site. I was thrilled with it. Set it on a 5 gallon bucket and it sounded incredible for a $39 radio. The batteries lasted forever and it fit in my tool bucket with my Sawzall very nicely. After many years on the job site some maggot stole it (along with about $500 of other tools.) I replaced all the tools (still have most of them) and went looking for another Super Radio ll. Alas , it had been upgraded to a Super Radio lll. O.K. This should be an improvement so I bought it. Nope..... total disappointment. Not as powerfull , didn't sound nearly as good as the ll , and the batteries didn't last nearly as long. To be honest , when it also got stolen several years later I laughed about the poor slob that ended up with that turd. I picked up a Sony that seemed as good as the old GE but only took it to work a couple of times. The thing was just too expensive to take to work. Picked up some junk $29 POS from wallmart for work. Sounds almost as good as the lll. The Sony sounds as good as the ll but cost a whole lot more.
