There's a whole thread of "Dad band" names elsewhere on TB. Some of 'em are pretty good.

That in theory the hospital tech who saw me today could be of grandchildren age is sobering enough. That Dad Band is even in common usage is reason enough for that Guinness consumed on Saturday. (Helpful hint for our American barkeeps: never, never pour Guinness into a frosted mug.)
And here am us (minus Morrighan as she had to remain in the States for other stuff) this very evening
I refuse to admit that I am too hold to keep up...
In FL(you may remember), it tends to be hot and humid, therefore I prefer my beer-any beer-cold and frosty. I read in a 'beer book' that beer should be consumed at "cellar temperature". If you have a 'cellar' in south FL, it's a pool. Dig down about 4' and you'll hit the aquifer.
I just met a friend for coffee. He is a pretty good swing/jazz guitarist, older than me (hard to believe that's possible) and recently retired. I got called in to sub in his band a few times last year; there's a video of that too somewhere, I think on Facebook (I'm on a video kick lately I guess). Anywhoo... he's not playing much and he's not feeling too happy about that. We've casually talked in the past about putting something together where I can sing and play, and the lead singer in one of my bands has expressed some interest in maybe being involved in that as both a backup singer and relief lead. So we made a plan today to work out a few tunes we'd like to tackle and get together to see how that goes.
One of the drummers I work with might have enough free time to get involved, so I'm going to ask him if he wants to come out and play along with us sometime. I figure if we get something going, maybe we could book it as a cocktail lounge type thing. At least doing this I know the skill level of everyone who will be involved and I know the bar will be set pretty high. It seems like work, but work that might also be fun and rewarding. We'll see what we can come up with.

It sounds like you may have stumbled into something musically-if not financially-rewarding. Good luck with it.
Both the guitarists in the band I work with are jazz guys at heart but there are no jazz gigs available here. So we do a lot of 60s-70s rock with a little x-over country thrown in for grins. Once in a while, we get a chance to do a 'jazz-y' gig, at least to start the night. The drummer also has a jazz background(as do I), so it makes for some fun playing.
Yeah, the musically rewarding part is always the most important thing to me. As I mentioned to my friend over coffee, I'd rather work less, be poor, and have more music in my life than the other way around. Just how it is for me.
At present not a reliable source as one without a TV and no particular inclination for another
When I was over there I never bought a license. I thought the idea was pretty stupid! I seem to remember needing one for a radio back then too.
I used to play 6 nights a week in the 70s-early 80s, and made a decent living at it. Now it's more for fun than $, though we do have our limits as to how little we'll take for moving all our stuff. Luckily, we never have to be very loud so all the big stuff stays at home.
When I'm providing PA, it's a JBL EON one. When one of our guitarists brings the PA, it's 1 or 2 Bose L1s. All light and easy to move/set up.

What I saw were pretty hefty fines. Expect it doesn't do well to leave those unpaid.

Yep. I just talked with my drummer friend; he's interested but it sounded like he wanted it to be a bigger thing that we are envisioning just now. He started asking if we were going to have a horn section, etc. I squashed that expectation very quickly.
I think we'll be well off to just get a trio together and that way we can travel pretty lightly. Drummer has an electronic kit, so small PA for vocals and drums, and small amps for guitarist and me. Probably only need one monitor, so pretty easy setup. I have all this stuff already, so no big expense there.
What a ripoff. The BBC should get stuffed. Poor people that need the service the most are burdened by the cost, the rich middle class and above can easily afford it.

There are ways to start Tuesdays and it is a combination of confusion, and calculation, and all what like that there as the first thing I find in the inbox is a bill. A bill I paid three days ago, and yes, here's a computer invoice for the same bill. And learn that the amount shown on the invoice is correct. What it doesn't show is a balance of Zero (because it was paid). Some unnecessary mental gymnastics before coffee is made that is
