If you don't mind my asking and you feel like answering, where was this dorm? (The phone itself seems more convent like, tho' you don't.)

If anyone ever made an amp that looked like that TV, David Lindley would own and play it.

The 1960 Ampeg JS-35, coffeetable amp is along those lines. The legs are dressed with a fancy sparkle finish. What is called random navy flair vinyl.

Phone number 1, when held near a free tape spool of a mainframe, would make the spool spin.

They used to sell the hand crank magneto generators from these phones in surplus electronics stores. Give them a crank and they'd produce a shock of 120VAC. Fishermen would connect electrodes and insert them into the ground, crank the magneto, and worms would come to the surface. Of course, they also served to shock people in torture chambers.
