Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

The finest bagels known to humankind are made in New York. (I'm sure purists may rightfully claim Queens for a truly proper bagel.)

The local boardhead guy with the delivery service claimed his grandmother's Staten Island recipe to be the the One True Thing. He did a really great job for several years, but inevitably sold his original franchise operation to a brick and mortar bakery. Those guys were good friends and I would often go over there across the street from the club after work for freshies at 3-5AM. And now that they've moved along I just might be able to finagle the recipe out of them. The smoked salmon right here trumps NY lox by a mile in any case. But just a schmear with a tiny amount of one herb or another is My One True, no fishy on me.

Ketchup, anywhere on the plate, is considered sacrilege by bagel food snobs.

Carl always looked old. He and his brothers could knock out the hits.

Interesting Jazzmaster guitar. He played some Fender instruments but often was seen with a Gibson.

Call it good karma I met the great Man Carl Perkins. And too dumbfounded to say anything. Great call on that Jazzmaster. To my ear it sounds twangier than a Telecaster. I dig the switches in the same way I dig the switches on an old Fender Jaguar.

Looks like a marketing ploy to address a problem that doesn’t exist. Besides, the font to too happy for a weighted day. Maybe it would fly at the blueberry marketing board.

We surely knew this post would bring out my inner Miss Thistlebottom. A typeface is what you see and a font is what you use to make it.

That typeface looks like something selected for the wrapper of some nobby candy.

Jeez...I thought Monday blues was the jeans I put on this morning. But then, I'm a retired white dude in the North...cant have the blues nohow.

(Simple walking bass)

"Well, I woke up this mornin
E.............A....................E
Saw my Beamer was gone.
B7.........................A
Felt so low down broke up,
E................B7.............E
Threw my OJ on the lawn."

How about "threw my avocado toast on the lawn" ? :D

Variations on a theme:

:thumbsup::thumbsup: Little Feat is teh besto.

Good memories there. A lot of kids today don’t play. It’s a lot more fun being in a band playing out than staying in the basement playing computer games.

Folks saying video games are responsible for every societal ill, and I say everyone should play some video games. Some of the finest times in my life right there, and the finest people I ever met too.

Dear Universe,
If we send you Justin Bieber, and Insane Clown Posse, will you send John Lee Hooker back to us?!

Please??!!

Everything Da Hook plays sounds like sex to me.

Live minnows with a peppermint schnapps chaser is not unheard of in Wisconsin.

Those sweet drinks leave me with the worst hangovers.

There's a small seafood processing plant that makes small batches of cold smoked lox salmon then sends it by air to NY City. I imagine a pretty penny to buy it. We Natives made lox for generations just called it--- well-- cold smoked salmon...

I heard there are native New Yorkers who never give a thought to cost. For the rest of us, there is the Sort Lowest Price First option on Web pages.

Clearly a smoked salmon bassists' nosh is in order soon. I've got the capers covered on this caper.

The side with the mozzarella suits me just fine. I was trying to be diplomatic. Ketchup, anywhere on the plate, is considered sacrilege by bagel snobs.

Then there is the order of chips in a newspaper cone served with mayonnaise that is typical street fare in Holland. Living high.

Still makes me wince a bit inside to dine with someone who puts ketchup on steak. And as anyone who has ever been in Chicago knows, ketchup on a hot dog is a criminal offense.

There’s a deli that sells a sandwich called the special. On the menu it says that is comes with a hint of mustard and is never cut. “No special for you” if you ask for ketchup.

Mayo and spices with fries in a cone is the gimmick at one overpriced chain that I’ve tried. They charge $1 for just a squirt of mayo.

Everyone knows that you’re supposed to use brown sauce (aka HP) on steak. Haven’t had a steak in many many years.

Brown sauce on a bacon sandwich!

Ah, the Birdseye Lowdown Food Club is now born. First rule of BLFC is...oh, wait.

Smoked salmon with cream cheese and capers is a surprisingly tasty pizza thing around here.

More condiment wars:

Good tartar sauce is ideal for chips, tho' not for poutine.

HP and its siblings are some of Beelzebub's favorite culinary tools.

I love my wife and thus accept ketchup in the fridge.

How good is that!

The Beatles met him on June 1, 1964 when they were in Abbey Road recording Matchbox. No pressure having him watch while they recorded his song. There’s a rumor that he jammed with the band but it wasn’t recorded. I don’t know if I believe that one.

Another inspired pairing (1970):

In the 80's we started touring Canada as a young dance rock band. We stayed in nice places that had restaurants. I remember steaks and HP sauce, with a side of Black Tower wine. When I retired from touring, after finding Mrs. Right, I asked our local grocers to stock HP sauce. It took nearly a year for one of them to start stocking it! When it came in I bought two bottles. Luckily for me they keep a regular stock now-- evidently there are enough people on an island of 8,400 people that like the stuff...

Meanwhile, back home....
