Present? I suppose so. This has been a challenging week and I'm not really feeling too chatty, but here I am.
Got a show tonight with one of the bands I'm in; it's not my best effort, but it's supposed to be a fun diversion from our serious projects. Unfortunately it's ending up not being that much fun, for a few reasons that I sort of knew I should have avoided but got pulled toward anyway, mainly having to do with the fact that some spouses just don't belong in bands together. Mine is not happy, which makes me unhappy. It's too much to get into. It just shouldn't have happened, but it did.
Anyway, he's not at the show tonight because he's playing with his other band, and he's not critical personnel, so we'll see how this goes. I have a feeling everyone will be happier.
There's not much else to report. My main band has successfully recruited a new guitarist who is really good, has a fast ear and a great voice for harmony, so we now have three-part vocals. So far we're pulling off some amazing covers in rehearsals. There's an annual show we're booked for in October called "Dead Rock Stars" where 9 bands will play a few songs each from various people who have passed away. We pulled "When Doves Cry" out of our collective nether-regions last night and we all fell into our vocal parts instantly and everyone knew the words; in a word, it was amazing. I'm playing the high keys part on the upper frets on the bass, since there's no bass line, otherwise and I don't want to drag a keyboard there. So we're doing that and a few others for this show.
I'm super excited again for this band, which is nice, because I was ready to pull the plug on it a few months ago.
Otherwise, I'm just tired and feeling a little down. It'll pass.
