Get Your Spouse's Approval For Next Guitar Purchase...

Everything looks the same to my wife, as long as I can sneak it in the house she never knows until after I gradually break it to her and I do sometimes just to see the look on her face, haha! . Even then she'll yell and complain a little bit but calm down in a while. I also usually tell her it cost half what it really did. I never complain though when she buys shoes and stuff like that though, like the poster above said: You reap what you sow.

Just got a pretty nice change in job positions that will allow me to make... unwise decisions. Told my wife that I told Chad at The Bass Shop in Seattle that I'd likely be buying next time I dropped in, and she said...

"Go for it! ...just get me an Apple Watch in rose gold".

OK, not a bad tradeoff.
Here, this Apple Watch is $12 at Kmart. I think the rose gold one is $15 bucks.

Not sure if more recent thread so bumping...

I'm a one bass guy. Back into playing for almost a year. In my youth traded lots of basses but never had more than 1. Play almost daily since I discovered I love shorties (traded a closeted rarely played full scale and haven't looked back). Already played everything in my <$500 range that local gc and small local shops had. Had free Saturday so went to city to try a few used store that have weak online presence. Nothing I liked though.

Was telling wife later about what I got to try and lack of finding new basses and she said she thought I liked my bass. I said yes but I like to try new ones. She told me not sell it while sounding ok I was looking for a new bass. Sounds like subtle I can have 2 basses with no questions asked :) I know she wouldn't really care (unless I bought crazy multiple basses) and we don't police each other's purchases anyway..but found it funny she is more ok with me having multiple basses than I am. Lol. Feel like I haven't played consistently long enough to deserve more than 1 and it's just me doing it at home..no plans to play with others.

We always hit new camping stores when we travel...I need to add music stores to mix (I really got to play me in person to know if I like the feel...) :)

Just found it funny I am more restrained on bass purchases than non musical spouse.

She got the watch in March. Father's day today...
