But, it bears mentioning that, had I tried it on something as iconic as Bass Boomers (our nickel-plated offering), the chances are great that it wouldn't have caught on nearly as quickly, nor be as appreciated. It needed to be a new set to provide a better platform for people to look at it on its merit, instead of "Why'd you change ______? It was great the way it is!"
It most certainly does. @Jon Moody could you tell us more about this? This seems relevant:

The video is pretty self-explanatory. Anything I’d say is gonna be a reword of what I already put in the video.

@michael_t will want the tension numbers. Will this newly reengineered roundcore Bass Boomers be billed as 'balanced tension'? I hope they retain that same smooth glassy top end. I look forward to trying a set on my American Standard Fender Jazz, as I thought the original version of roundcore Boomers to be close to perfection.Such as?

That's a given that the tension numbers will be updated.
More than likely, they will remain as Roundcore Bass Boomers.
Will the packaging be updated to the new design (in red?) so we'll be able to distinguish the new balanced RCB from the old?

I wonder if these types of numbers are really brand specific though, as in GHS specific. I'm sure Rotosound probably sells more of the iconic RS66 sets in stainless than anything nickel they offer. Same with DR strings, I would think the Hi Beams and Fatbeams outsell most of their nickel offereings. It's a shame as GHS Super Steel rounds are really a great string IMHO, nice midrange voicing compared to other brands of stainless rounds.
It's brand specific to a point. Nickel strings do outsell stainless as an overall blanket statement, but my ratio of 10:1 is definitely GHS-based. I wouldn't be surprised if other companies have it closer to 3:1 or, the RS66 may outsell their nickel strings as they're KNOWN for those over anything else (and it's also what you can pick up at GC).
