GHS Pressurewound Bass Strings, love em

I give mine a denatured alcohol bath every 4-6 weeks to refresh them, and replace them after about a year or so. They do sound more and more "flattish" as time goes on.

I just put a set of those in my 5 string yesterday. My plan with them is to reduce the string finger noise without losing the tone of my bass. I have a 4string with flats but I thought that a flat b string won't sound the same. The pressurewound fix all of that. The b string is clear and balance. They don't hurt my fingers and the tone is all there. I'm happy with them!

I love these strings except for the 4th, as I drop a whole step with these. the other way to put it is I wish they would make a heavier heavy set. otherwise I gotta go 5 minus 1 next time. the treble string just never really pleases me at this tuning - its either tinny sounding if the upper mids are up, or 'unremarkable'.. can't find the happiness.
the other 3 are sublime. not a really high gain string, but sweet, musical, and are showing a long life

I've preferred these for many years ... tried other strings , but always come back to these ... feel and sound just fine ..! mine last quite a while , as I do try to wipe them down after playing ... I'd also agree with Bass Strings Online ,.. got my last custom set there ,... you can make up your own set at regular set prices ... I think they're Drop-shipped straight from GHS ... have also order them from JustStrings.com .... the only thing I'd like to see , is a couple other gauges for their Low B ... I think .128 is it ..! but I'm running my 5 strg with a High C right now , so no low B ... I have some rather old Ti flats on my 4 string ,... they are definitely flat sounding after a few years ..!

Been using the GHS BriteFlats on my fretless Ripper for a few years and am really satisfied and impressed. Need a string that won't rip up the ebony fretboard. Flats were a little too thumpy on the Gibson and was really having to play hard to get any definition - working too hard and slowing me down a little. Having groundwounds on brought out more clarity.

I been playing my bass for hours. They feel good. I roll down the tone and I'm getting a flat like tone similar to labella. With the tone all the way up they sound like boomers with little less highs. The tension it kind of sloppy compare to flats but I just have to get use to. They are and upgrade compare to the noisy factory installed daddario.

Stick a piece of mute foam (doesn't have to be dense) at the bridge and try it, tone all the way up.

Yeah, a number of our string sets that we don't sell a large amount of to justify their own packaging get thrown in the Custom Shop label. Which needs to be updated. Badly.

For me, tonally they start out right where a set of other strings is after a couple of weeks. They mellow out a little, but not a whole lot.

I put a set on my jazz style bass several months ago. I was surprised how "round" they feel and sound! Not quite what I expected, but I am liking them a lot! They have mellowed a tad. It's a nice contrast between them and the Precision Flats on my P5. I might try the Brite Flats on the 5'er when the PF's wear out (if I live that long....LOL). Or maybe I just need to buy another bass so I can run all 3 sets!!!!

I've been playing Jazz Basses for over 40 years and I haven't found a better string for mine than these. They're really far more like a mellow round wound. They have that same expressiveness and response to changes in EQ but without the noise and the initial zing of a rounds. They're my favorite string.

Describing them as a mellow round wound is spot on. Smooth feel, and not quite as much bite/twang as a typical nickel round wound. I have had my current set on since March, and even with regular playing they really haven't changed much. That's not a bad thing at all. Definitely my favorite string, and very reasonably priced to boot.
