Gibson 2016 - no basses?

I liked them, I want one, but there are other things I want more, so Gibson basses...meh.
Now if they would make real reissues of the Thunderbird and the EB3 they might have something
I must admit, after decades of playing everything from Ibanez to Warwick to Spector, I ( unintentionally ) picked up a Gibson T-bird a few years back and now I have a few.
Yes, they're nothing 'groundbreaking',
Yes, they haven't really changed much in ages ( apart from the 2015 changes )
Yes, they have a pretty poor colour range........
but......
I love them, great tone, not a neck-diving beast ( as most people who haven't tried em' believe ) and a really comfortable neck.
Excellent rock bass, would hate to see them vanish.

In retrospect, Gibson was one of the first to design basses which parroted their guitar lines so we could be as cool looking as the guitarists....and, God knows, we need all the help we can get.

If anything I'd be more worried about Fender going under than anything else.Gibson had over 2 billion in sales last yr.Fender didn't quite get that much lol.

Mine dove like a hungry duck. I returned it inside of 30 days because of it, but it did have a good sound. Just not good enough to justify the being uncomfortable. If I had to do it again I'd go with the Epi pro now i think.

Chris is the editor of a Dutch bass magazine, he does not make things up. He has his sources.
When was the last time, I won't even give it the credibility to call it a rumor, something like this posted on TB was actually true? Everyone knows a guy whose girlfriend had an affair with the CEO of some company and got inside information that was going to rock the music world...
Not trying to pull anything. Just wondering why someone would bother to chime in on a thread at all if they so much disliked the brand being discussed.
Perhaps it's more appropriate I should be wondering what your "angle" is - and what you're "trying to pull" instead?

Well.... maybe add a cream color EB to the mix. Oh and an RD Artist and maybe a Ripper or Money bass. Guess I'm hopelessly hooked!
Love the finish on the SG one (sorry, don't really know the Gibson models). If you like them, play them. I tried a Tbird when they first came out. Found them to be heavy and severe neck dive. Never cared much for any Gibson bass. In the mid 60s, I played keyboard an rhythm guitar for a while and out bass player had the SG body one in the darker red. I could never find one I could really want to take home.What I like about the Gibson Bass line and hope to get my hands on before they stop making them...

Thanks! Ya know I hear a lot of people talk about the dreaded T-Bird neck dive but in all honesty, I have yet to find one that dives. I've tried a few Epi birds that were neck heavy but not any Gibsons. Just lucky I guess.
