Gibson 2019...seriously?

Okay, new SG line...let's just hope they don't reintroduce the EB-3 basses in these colors!
Shell Pink, Coral, Frost Blue, Kerry Green
I really like pink, but I don't think it works here. As for the Coral, what was Gibson thinking...Hey, let's go with coral for those guys who think pink's for girl?
Frost blue? Okay, not too bad, but Kerry Green? How about calling it Barely Green?

Olive Drab, Gloss Yellow, Walnut, Heritage Cherry
Okay, the Olive Drab is just that, drab. It has all the appeal of of an actual olive. Gloss Yellow? Again, what were they thinking...Let's choose the most horrible shade of yellow available?
The Walnut? Not bad but done to death. The Heritage Cherry? Now that's what I call original!

This, however, i could really go for.
Yeah, even if they reissued it as an Epiphone.

Always liked the Cherry finish, glad it's still there. I saw a Reverend Dub King in Sea Foam and although not for me, it was great looking. Good to see Gibson competing.

I'll respectfully disagree. The 'pastel' colors, if you will, are akin to some of the best-selling colors in Fender's palette. Gibson is trying to turn a profit and appeal to a wider audience; maybe a tactic like this is an attempt coax some Fender fans that feel Gibson's selections have been too drab (no pun intended). The yellow is remarkably similar to TV Yellow, a very popular color particularly in the Gibson Les Paul Junior and Special series. The walnut and heritage give Gibson diehards what they keep coming back to Gibson for. The olive is the only real 'outlier,' but contrasts well with the tort scratchplate.

I say kudos, Gibson!

I like the Kerry Green color. The Frost blue and olive drab are cool, too. In fact, I think the olive drab goes well with the SG shape better than it does with Fender bodies.

Forgive me for this, but the Gibson pickguard style looks better in black or cream. Tort just doesn't work here, especially on some of these colors. I really like the direction they're heading in and give them credit. Let's see what their basses will offer.

Sweet Mother of God what is this and when did it happen? If they did a black or curly maple top version of this I still wouldn't buy it because it'd still be way outta my budget but it'd make me hurt even worse... drooldrooldrool

The RD was way out of my budget when it first came out long ago when I was a young teen, and looks like it still is, if I want to keep my marriage intact that is, I have my quota of basses. $1600 according to some of the online prices I've seen. Of course I could trade some of the basses I already have.

Why not? Fender has basically been milking the same two bass and guitar designs with only minor variations in neck profiles and pickups since the 50s. As in last century. Where's all the innovation and originality in that?

BTW, I don't think they're copying anybody's colors. Coming up with 'new' shades of paint is easy. Pick a number out of a Pantone book or provide a paint manufacturer with a sample of virtually anything to match and you're done.

For a Les Paul, that looks really smart. The ST suffers though, it's an ugly guitar and there is nothing that can be done to make it look better. I actually like the solid colours more than the natural finishes and Gibson walnut always looks like cheap table wood. The coral pink is a nice colour though, on a Strat or an Ibanez Frank Gambale...
