Gibson 2019...seriously?

I like pink. I just think it works better with some basses and I've always thought most pinks are either too soft or too hot.
That's why I really regret selling my Jazz bass...perfect pink.

How original?

Why not? Fender has basically been milking the same two bass and guitar designs with only minor variations in neck profiles and pickups since the 50s. As in last century. Where's all the innovation and originality in that? ;)

BTW, I don't think they're copying anybody's colors. Coming up with 'new' shades of paint is easy. Pick a number out of a Pantone book or provide a paint manufacturer with a sample of virtually anything to match and you're done.
I agree. I don't dig FMIC much either

The SG isn't my favorite shape, I really don't like how it looks with a long bass neck on it, but for guitars it's okay, and it looks cool when cool guys like Angus Young and Tony Iommi are wearing it.

For Gibson bass designs I prefer the weirder shapes like the RD, and I really liked that one they had a few years ago, the EB2013, which is a gorgeous design. I think that was Gibson finally getting it right with basses, but they didn't keep it in production long. Would love to see one in some of these newer colors.

Those were quite good. It's a shame they never caught on.

Meh. Gibson is finally producing new colors. If they had done this 30 years ago we would all be used to it and would have grown up with them that way. People like what they know as much as everyone likes to think other wise. I think they are kinda going after that Fender market but really it's not like fender invented them colors either...

New Gibson CEO walks into a meeting and his great new idea is colors... in 2019... They tried the Reverse Flying V, those robot guitars, the firebird X, and a bunch of other horrible ideas. It's about time they add some new color options.

No issues with new colours and I hate myself for saying this, but when it comes to the SG, if it ain't broken. Dunno, I find SG's look really weird in any other colour other than walnut or cherry...

I'm flying out on Monday to talk with the new head honcho to discuss bringing this one back.

I'm planning on telling him I'll stop badmouthing Gibson on talkbass and only knock Rickenbacker from now on.
(I probably won't mention that I'd prefer Epiphone come out with their version, though.)

If this is serious... The G3/Grabber/Ripper need to come back, at realistic prices. :)
