Gibson Acquires Mesa/Boogie

Best case scenario: Boogie continues largely uninterrupted and also provides Gibson with the capability to reproduce their old-school amp offerings (GA40 etc) to compete with the likes of Supro and bite into the blues lawyer market share

Worst case scenario:
Gibson : Boogie as Fender : SWR

Gibson destroyed Tobias - I know, it didn't matter because Mike started MTD.

Nothing good happens when great independent companies are swallowed up. SWR, Eden, Genz Benz, all disappeared. I think some Genz Benz tech maybe made it into the new Rumble amps. Genzler has resurfaced under that name and is making great stuff. That doesn't seem to be the norm though. Maybe I'm wrong.

Ampeg is still Ampeg under Yamaha I believe. We'll see what happens to Aguilar and Mesa/Boogie I guess.

Yamaha isn’t Gibson, and Ampeg has been poorly managed for decades. Yamaha is a solid company with many decades of providing the industry with quality products. Gibson has very possibly the worst reputation in the industry, and it’s well-deserved.

I have posted a little more info on the "Subway" thread, let's read through this before assuming that the sky is indeed falling and that we all need to start crying in our cornflakes prematurely.

Nothing I read will ever change the reality of what Gibson is and how they operate.
Facts are facts.

Here's the official information:

It will not affect my service program for Genz Benz, I have had the continued support of Fender, KMC and Mesa Boogie to continue this program for as long as I am willing to do it. I can't see any company objecting to doing something that is good for both the players and the industry as a whole, as all of these companies really are customer service oriented at their core.

I hope your right. Working for Gibson building Tobias, Slingerland and Valley Arts doesn't give me any hope. Look at their history of other brands. All very strong IMO at the time of purchase.

Again, Gibson’s bankruptcy had nothing to do with guitars and everything to do with failed expansion and bad acquisitions into home theater.
Guitar sales for Gibson grew all through 2010-2019. Quality control bad was just really really poor analysis buy ‘guitar e-celebs’. Guitar sales is the primary reason Gibson is around and able to buy a company like Mesa Anyway.

Gibsons warranty’s are extremely lenient and customer friendly. I would know, I used it!

The reality is Gibson and Fender will be the last man standing as guitar music continues to slide out of relevance. This isn’t the Norlin era or the Henry J era either. It’s a slim guitar focused company with a very customer friendly warranty. (I can’t speak for epiphone).

Gibson (and PRS) only begrudgingly sells epiphone over seas. They are basically forced to do it because if they don’t someone will be selling Gibson copies at that price point. If they don’t compete with $300 Les Pauls they are basically forfeiting the market.

It’s not really an issue for Mesa at the moment. Nobody is selling a cheap rectifier from China.

Behringer/bugera are.

Maybe you’re right. Time will tell. And Mesa has a very strong following and great reputation in the guitar and bass community.

Valley Arts, gone. Harmony Central, knocking on death’s door. Garrison, gone. Tobias, brand and quality degradation. Kramer, degraded, near death. Steinberger, degraded brand and quality. Onkyo, reputation and quality sinking.
You're right, I'm aware of this. But I hope and guess the institution that is Mesa won't be affected the way these brands were.
