Well they could be donated to schools or charities or whatever so kids could learn to love playing guitar...and good ones at thatWhy? They're just chunks of wood and metal.
I've destroyed several for fun.

The only thing wrong with them is the electronics can be confusing or slightly faulty. They play really well. You could slap on regular tuners and pots and pull out the wiring and still play it fine. It would have some holes in it but who cares if you got a 4000 dollar guitar for free. That is if you are really that much opposed to the electronics. Most of them are fine once you get used to it.Do some research on the Firebird X and tell me they're good guitars.
This came out on YouTube :
Origin of the clip unknown but the destruction of musical instruments, fake or not, is always a bad idea.
They're guitars. They emit sound (well, signal) when struck. And they have a built-in tuner!Do some research on the Firebird X and tell me they're good guitars.

So go buy one and give it to a kid. Gibson's donated over $30 million worth of gear already. And you guys have donated...?They're guitars. They emit sound (well, signal) when struck. And they have a built-in tuner!
Not all kids are as demanding as North American kids... I'm sure many less privileged young learners would have found one of those "crap guitars" a wonderful gift.![]()
Hi folks
Yep! Kids of today will ask you: Why don' t they recycle the pups, pots, ……
Kids are not stupid! (they care for their future and their planet!)
Everything can be recycled.
And they’re still going to need to be sent for recycling of some sort anyway.

You serious? Yes, I do donate to charities, even if I'm not Gibson... What does this have to do with the present discussion? So go buy one and give it to a kid. Gibson's donated over $30 million worth of gear already. And you guys have donated...?
Look, the guitars were crap. $4000 crap. Donated crap is still crap. It's not like there are no guitars left in the world anywhere. You serious? Yes, I do donate to charities. What does this have to do with the present discussion??
Please stop your quest to delegitimize people expressing their criticism by calling them "whiners". You're the only one whining here, Sir.
"Crap" is subjective... 90% of what North Americans eat is Pure Crap for us Italians.Look, the guitars were crap. $4000 crap. Donated crap is still crap. It's not like there are no guitars left in the world anywhere.
Given just how many Gibsons there were, and no other brand, why not!Was that an official Gibson video?
Sorry, were you replying to me? Your post seems to have nothing to do with my question. Hint: my question had nothing to do with Gibson.I don't remember seeing anything indicating the video was produced by Gibson.
Did Gibson specify the method the contractor used to destroy the guitars?
Anyone complaining about a free guitar would have to be a complete wank. Even if it is a crap one.
Thanks!A bad product is a bad product, even when it is a gift!
Has the EPA seen this video, yet?By using an escavator [sic] shredding these guitars, they did not only lose money.
By shredding the electronics they created toxic waste!
They did noy do this in a facility, that is equiped for retaining dangerous substances.
Every production site where you work with toxic stuff has to be conform with the norms!!!
Gibson has a gravel yard outside!![]()

Do you think we don't already know this?...90% of what North Americans eat is Pure Crap for us Italians.![]()
Italians tend to be quite arrogant. That's my experience."Crap" is subjective... 90% of what North Americans eat is Pure Crap for us Italians.![]()

Italians are usually cool. Italian Americans are often the arrogant onesItalians tend to be quite arrogant. That's my experience.
I agree on the eye protection, but not on the gloves when using tools that the gloves may get entangled in....in the "Guitar Distruction" [sic] video, I don't even see the guy slicing Gibson ES's in half with a band saw use gloves or eye protection, so...
Nothing like the French...Italians tend to be quite arrogant. That's my experience.
I dunno, I'm Italo-Italian...Italians are usually cool. Italian Americans are often the arrogant ones
Before I get complaints, stow it. You know it's true.
I never said they were usable.
That aside, tell Hendrix, Trent Reznor, Richie Blackmore, Kurt Cobain, John Entwistle, Krist Novoselic, Pete Townshend, Jeff Beck and hundreds of others it's a wrong move to destroy instruments.
Oh, and Paul Simonon.
