Hi folks
When I first saw the video (on the other Gibson thread) I posted:
And then I started to read this thread…
I found out that the guitars are not just simple guitars like we all know them.
They are full of outdated electronics and can' t be sold.
Of course I can understand the decision not to give them away!
A bad product is a bad product, even when it is a gift!
But you still have to take care, that your product will be recycled!
Bravo!
Metals, plastics, wood……... have to be seperated.
Electronics contain a variety of very expensive and rare raw materials. (e.g. copper!)
And they also contain certain highly toxic raw materials!
These have to be treated, separated and stocked adequately
Today we have companies that are specialized in separating and recyling everything!
The less work these companys have with separating the raw materials, the more
they will pay you!
When you show up with a container full of metal you will get good money!
When you show up with a guitar, it becomes more complicated to separate the raw materials.
You have to pay something.
1+
And when you come with a container with everything mixed and shredded,
electronics in pieces ,woodsplinters, metal parts and plastics,
you will have a huge problem. They don' t have to take
waste that can 't be separated and if they do,
it will cost you a fortune!
But what do I know about business? Probably nothing!
Somebody posted: It' s their guitars and they can do what they want…
No! They can' t! It' s not legal what they did!
By using an escavator shredding these guitars, they did not only lose money.
By shredding the electronics they created toxic waste!
They did noy do this in a facility, that is equiped for retaining dangerous substances.
Every production site where you work with toxic stuff has to be conform with the norms!!!
Gibson has a gravel yard outside!
They might get sued for this! They cannot even tell that they didn' t know!
Their own press release on Reverb talks about it!!!

But spending money for lawyers is always good business.
What do I know about business? Probably nothing!
