That looks so freaking awesome!!!

I too placed an order for a new sunburst Explorer,it should be here tomorrow afternoon(Friday!). Seeing the picture of you and your bass is getting me all tingly inside.:hyper::hyper:

Any thoughts on putting a SuperTone bridge on one of these new Explorers? I really like the style of the original Explorer bridge compared to the standard 3 point Gibson bridge.
But seeing as how I probably won`t find an original high mass bridge I`m thinking of getting the SuperTone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. When I get my Explorer I`m coming back and asking for a number!

I just had a thought.....
What kind of pick ups were in the original Explorers? I know that the new 2012 models have Thunderbird pups in them. Actually is there a reason that Gibson seems to put Thunderbird pickups in most of their newer bass guitars? The Les Pauls,Midtowns,and the Sg`s all have them. What gives?

I'd suggest bringing it to a good set up guy after you receive it..the stock strings are garbage, and my guy did some fret leveling, filed some bridge slots, and put some foam under the pickups because they moved a lot.

it plays like a dream now...invest the few extra bucks and you'll be happy..

P.s. The case is frakking huge!!

Thanks for the tip! I want to put some heavy DDT strings on mine(I`ve been tuning down to C,G,C,F lately and those strings handle it nicely). So changing the strings are a top priority for me.
And if I have the cash I`d like to add a Supertone bridge(if only for the aesthetics).

I was not looking for a new bass. certainly was not looking at Gibson. I had a 60's something EB- 3 that I had when I was a kid in the late 70's early 80's and didnt really like it.
I had a Tbird a few years back but couldnt live with the neck dive.

Been playing a Ric forever and could never find anything else I liked 100 %

No Gibson bass I ever tried aver felt goot to me ( Fenders either) and dont get me wrong, not other guitar I would rather play next to than a Les Paul but for me, Gibson basses just idnt do it.

Then I walk into a local GC the other day and see this bad boy....I left but thought about it all night.

went back and played it for a little while and thats all she wrote.....Its too early to tell but I may like this more than the Ric

mine seems fine right out of the box.....

the pick ups were a little high and do move a little but other than that WOW.....

probably will through some Rotosounds on it.

I dont know where the hell I am going to store that case...its friggin 4 feet long....lol

My pups move a bit but it doesn`t bother me. I`m really happy with mine!

That is the nicest Grabber that I have ever seen, Restoration or someone bought it, put it under the bed and then died with The Gibby not beeing found until his widow decided to move 33 years later? I don't think I have ever seen one with the bridge cover still with it. Nice
