My very early '72 4L I bought in '73. Has been my one and only electric bass until just this month. And yes I do still have all the original pu stuff and cover.
Unfortunately I need to replace the bridge as it has worn to the point that it has started to bend up at the A & D strings.
The "swoop" at the 8 & 9th fret is actually a really cool grain pattern.

Thanks Vates. I will get on that ASAP. Unfortunately, the B15N is a little under the weather right now.
It has (at least) a blown tube and instead of just replacing the tubes, I've been saving up to get the entire thing gone over professionally. It still has a service tag from 1982 and I would bet that is the last time any work was done on it. Anyway, my goal is to have it in the best possible shape by the time my band records again in a few months. A little off topic for this thread, but here is a picture of it. note: at some point all of the tolex was removed and the entire cabinet painted black.

I really like the looks of a new EB bass. And how it is built with ash/maple/rosewood and AlNiCo pickups.
Did anyone try this bass out? I wonder how it sounds and plays.

This bass is awesome. I'd fiddled around with an Epiphone EB-0 for awhile and even modified it to have a second pickup, but the real deal is leaps and bounds better. This is my first made in USA bass, which makes me happy. I think I'll be giddy about the maple top/clear finish for many years to come.

I saw some requests for a review so will give my best shot. I Got this Bass after thinking on it for awhile. Have to say I really like it. The only negative I have right off the bat is the finish, some are going to like it others are not. It's not really gloss like you might think on a Fender bass, it is a Satin like finish thats kind of shiny which does not fill in the wood grain, having said that to me it looks killer, much better than the pics. The feel is great, really balanced, fast feeling neck, feels slightly wider than a Ibanez SR but Narrower than a P bass, no neck dive. The sound is great I played around with the coil splitting and the balance between the pickups, have to say you can dial in really soft lows to a powerful growl like a MM. For a passive bass the range you get is really good. I received it perfectly setup and IN TUNE out of the box, couldn't be happier.

Nice! That looks fantastic. I'm mid chromeification myself. Saturday I put chrome Grovers and Supertone on mine. The set up, resonance and sustain is so much better with the Supertone. Ordering silver pick guard screws and strap locks. Then the pickups. What pups did you put in yours? I'm leaning towards Thunderbucker 66s.
All hail the supertone! The tech who swapped out the pickups noticed there wasn't a standard Gibson 3pt, said it was much easier to set up and intonate. It really helps balance Gibson basses too.
Pickups are from some 70's tbird, apparently they're single coils too. More of a pbass tone (especially from the neck pickup), but with brighter growl.
I just got a "MODBAR" for my bridge, which helps solve the intonation and sustain problems from the string silks/windings crossing over the bridge saddles. Lo and behold it was a perfect fit:
