Might just be the lighting but in the second pic it almost looks more like walnut than a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], though the first pic does have more of a red hue. Either way a very [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] bass, and very good looking!

Nope.

The grabber movable PU is a substantial assembly which extends fore and aft of the PU cavity. Friction holds it firmly in place. IMO, this stout design is the reason the PU doesn't have more sliding range.

That's what i thought but i read a review of the Grabber which suggests that you have to loosen the 4 screws to allow it to slide.

Maybe on that Grabber II, but on a 70s Grabber, tightening those 4 screws does not lock the pickup.

The review is bollocks, the 4 screws raise or lower the pick up but don't lock it in place.

New member here from Canada! Ill post pics of my blonde Grabber when I get home from work...but question, found a local seller of a Ripper-he wants $1200 CAD for it but he doesnt have the original or any case...is he asking too much?The Ripper is in pretty good condition...
