Gibson vs Fender

Not really, they both are guitar/bass brands. If I was asking you to choose from a bass brand over a brand that makes pianos... that would be a different story

The build quality of Fender is superior and IMHO so is the tone.

It's not a question, played Fender for many years even started on a Squier J bass starter kit. Pressured into buying an Epi T-bird by members of my band, played one show and hated the size and how too heavy it was sound wasn't comparable even to my Squier Vintage 70's. Fender all day

I personally can't stand Gibson basses. Don't like the look or the sound. The only one I'd even think about playing would be a thunderbird.
