Gibsons upping production!

Higher production numbers may just make it easier to see a good one sticking out like a sore thumb.
Or not.

I bought two brand new Gibsons in the last 5 years, one a reverse and the other a non-reverse T-bird, they both came perfectly set up and fit and finish were also perfect, in fact out of probably 13-14 basses I own their finish is by far the best, the paint is so deep (Nitro) it seems like you can see down into it.

The short scale Thunderbird is a nice bass. They only did 400 of them. A prior owner had mine refinished.

I bought my normal black one *back* after missing out on this one - love that thing in silverburst!!! Keep me posted if you ever wanna move it, cause our channel head has been eyeballing mine =0)

Agreed...utterly blown away at the quality and care that seems to go into these instruments. ALL instruments require some TLC and some straight brute force but there is a craftsman elements in the Epiphone and Gibson instruments I have had hands-on with in the last few years (recently). Like I said before, it's cool if you don't dig the brand or the style...there's LOTS of other options. But my Gibson sisters and brothers have it figured out!

I’m glad you got yours back. It is a wonderful Thunderbird. As you know, it’s easy to play and has a big low end. Mike, who I bought it from, was great to work with. Sorry DDX, but I’m afraid it has found its forever home.

I have only recently gotten into Gibson.
I picked up the DC Junior at a music store out of curiosity, and walked out of there with it.
I had no intention of buying a new bass, but it is so good I couldn't leave without it.

Plays like a dream, the neck feels amazing, and that tone!
It is such a huge tone and it packs a wallop.
Balance is perfect as other have stated.

I do like the looks of the LP Jr as well, but I'm afraid it won't be as hot and mid-forward as I want. How does it sound on a scale from the muddy SG to the hot and hard EB2014? I find mine to be close to P-territory when it comes to cutting through. An Epi Embassy is on my short-list as well.

It sounds big and punchy and cuts through really well.
To me it does sound very mid-forward.
Worth giving it a go if you see one.

I started out on an EB-0. I've always wanted an EB-3 or EB3L, just never got around to it. Maybe one day...

Today's the day!
