Gibsons upping production!

There never was a LP Recording Bass, guitar only. The instrument that you're referring to was called simply Les Paul Bass, replaced by Triumph in '72.

I wouldn't mind them re-issuing either of these basses but that's never going to happen...they know better.

Except for the fact that the Casady is a budget knockoff of the original Gibson Les Paul Signature, and the Epiphone 60's Thunderbird is a budget knockoff of the original Gibson NR Thunderbird. "Real deal" and Epiphone in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

A lotta folks would love for Gibson to make a faithful reissue of their Les Paul sig. Nothing against the Casady bass, but handling an actual LPS is a different experience, the Gibson was built to a much higher quality standard. I'd love one, but I'm sure the price would keep me away from it.

Wouldn't trade this for any new Gibson made.

Budget is the last word that comes to mind.
Not to mention, there's a big difference between what Gibson was and is.
As for the Epiphone '60s T-bird, I've heard nothing but rave reviews...countless ones.
I'm willing to bet more are being sold than the similar Gibson Thunderbird, and not just because of the good price.

I just think you're a little confused about what the "real deal" was/is. If you ever get a chance to handle a Les Paul sig, you'll know the difference between it and a Casady immediately.

I'm no fan of the sound in most Gibsons I've tried (G3, EB0/EB3, Thunderbird, 90's Les Paul), but my EB 2014 is one of my favorite basses. From what I've gathered, the NR Thunderbird should be right up my alley too. I do like the looks of the LP Jr as well, but I'm afraid it won't be as hot and mid-forward as I want. How does it sound on a scale from the muddy SG to the hot and hard EB2014? I find mine to be close to P-territory when it comes to cutting through. An Epi Embassy is on my short-list as well.

No-one does enthusiasm better than America. Can be misdirected at times but never half-hearted.
