Gigging in Shorts?

I don't doubt that at all. Are there no women in the crowd at your gigs?

Well, I can't think of many women that are into metal in general (I know you ladies are out there, but you seem to be an elusive breed)

Most chicks that are into "metal" are really just into scene bands and other garbage music like that, and they do judge off of appearance. I guess I need skinny jeans for them, as well as some eyeliner.

I think the whole thing about tailoring your band's look to be taken more seriously ends badly. Look at Slipknot. Ugh. Or the Beatles for that matter. (Yes, I just lumped them into the same category. *raises flame shield*)

The sound is all that matters. Look at Michael Romeo. He looks like a fat lesbian woman, but no one cares. He just shreds that guitar like there's no tomorrow.

I personally am not a huge fan of shorts in general. I always wear pants when playing a gig. I too agree that showing up in shorts and running shows type attire does kinda give the vibe of you don't care. Plus I always get a kick out of cover bands who cover rock or metal music and a member wears sandals and a Hawaiian shirt. Practice is another thing and it really does not matter. I once played a show in jeans when it was 100+ degrees outside.

I played in jeans for the first time in a year this weekend. It was an inside gig and the AC was not keeping up. When I was playing I didn't even notice I had jeans on, but during the breaks I noticed I was more uncomfortable due to the lack of AC.

The real issue was I tried to wear some nicer shoes with jeans and after four sets they were killing my feet. I was certainly missing my shorts and tennis shoes :) The funny thing was we got paid less for this gig at this venue than we did the last time we were there when I was wearing shorts, hehe. So to me, pants = less money (its a joke :D)

This guy does:

This wasn't a gig. It was recording an album on a boat in the Virgin Islands. Who WOULDN'T do that??
