Gigging Musicians: Cabinet Choice

Hatrke hydrive 410 and a TH500. I think the 410 is 68lbs...and we all know what the ToneHammer weighs.

I use the Phil Jones Bass C8 cab paired with an Epifani Piccolo 600. I really love this combo. It is lightweight and effective. The cab can handle 800 watts at 4 ohms and my head can put out 600 watts at 4 ohm. Plus, the cab is extremely portable with built in wheels and luggage type handle. The cab itself is 48 pounds. But, as noted, the wheels make it very easy to move.

I've seen them pop up on the GC used site. Even the non-pro ii's but those seem to be much less common.

Aguilar GS412. It is easier to move that the AudioKinesis ThunderChild 112 cabs I used before. It's has casters and it's perfectly designed where one never has to lift it. I merely tilt and slide into my SUV and ditto for the stage. While the until weights over a 100lbs, I literally carry/feel none of that. And it sounds fantastic.

That would be kryptonite alright. I guess you am lucky tho , 3-4 nights a week around north Florida and no stairs except the 4 leading into my front porch. Good ole flat arsed Florida.

Ha! Lean it over and slide it into the vehicle. You're probably only effectively lifting half the weight at that point. Unless you have to lift it into a pickup truck.

Small gigs - one Ampeg 4x10, or DI to FOH

Large gigs - two Ampeg 4x10s

Medium gigs - it could go either way, depending on the stage and FOH

I will have to agree with you. For smaller gigs, I would take my Piccolo 600 with my C4 (8 ohm). Killer combo.

This is the only time this year I had PA support. So no PA on top of the amp and wired rather than wireless. And, yes, the second cab is just to get the combo amp up higher. The gain/volume settings are about 1/2 what I would use at a small bar.

My rig these days is either a Subway D-800+ or Berg B|Amp into some combination of Berg CN112's or CN210. Sometimes I'll play a GK MB800 w/ an AudioKinesis TC115 as an alternative. All of these are amazingly light for the massive sound they put out!

This thread is for gigging musicians that carry their gear out 2 or more times a month... what size cab do you carry, and how much does it weigh?

For about 8 years it's been two Avatar Neo 210 cabinets stacked as a vertical 410.

17.5" H. x 23.5" W. x 16.5" D. each.

40ish lbs. each.

Power them with Mesa M-6 Carbines.

Vanderkley 212MNT. It weighs 25kg, so is about manageable for me to shift on my own and can cover pretty much any gig I do before PA support is needed.

I always use a sack truck to schlep it (edit - As seen behind my #1 fan). Most places don't have stairs but the pub the photo was taken has 3 steps down just inside the entrance then immediately 3 back up to the room we play in.

ouch!

I generally don't have to lift my NV610 these days, but I have done more than once in the past. Lighter than a Fridge/810, but still not a lightweight cab.
