Looks kind of bloody so I guess it's dead.If it's dead, that's sad.

Darn tootin. Properly cooked and seasoned snake meat can be delicious. The bones are annoying, but it's some tasty stuff.Them's good eatin'.
Did/will you eat it?
Yeah, it's from a FB page, "Southern Boyz." Much better view of the snake here:Wowza that snake is huge! Is there a link?
As you can see from the above post, it's not me, but I would definitely eat it. Not on moral principles but because bassicaly I'm hungry pretty much all the time....Darn tootin. Properly cooked and seasoned snake meat can be delicious. The bones are annoying, but it's some tasty stuff.

True, but in this particular case I don't really see how it could be too much smaller than what is represented, unless the snake has been photoshopped. I mean, assuming the photographer is near the same height as the man in the photo, the guy appears to be holding 2' or so in front of him at about eye-level, give or take maybe half a foot. The snakes head is is hanging at least a foot, probably more from where it's being held, and it's body is nearly touching the ground if not actually touching it. Anyway you slice it, it's a lot of snake, unless it's a shop. I'm guessing somewhere between 6'-8' depending on how tall the guy is.That's an old 'fishing picture ' trick.....
You hold the object much closer to the camera than you are.......and it looks way bigger......
Fishermen do it all the time in their pics........works even better if your lens is wide angle....
In this snake pic,the pole he is holding it up with could be quite long...but the pole is hidden from view.....
A tad suspicious........
A human head is 1/8 of height in drawing. See how long his legs are?True, but in this particular case I don't really see how it could be too much smaller than what is represented, unless the snake has been photoshopped. Some good points, I think you're right about it being about 4-5 feet from the guy judging by the size of the rattle compared to the size of his boot. It's still more snake than I'd like to tangle with, given the option.A human head is 1/8 of height in drawing. See how long his legs are?
Snake tail dangles fairly vertically landing 4 to 5 ft in front of hero's snake boots. Quid pro quo snake is well out in front on the stick. Tallies with lean back posture. Big but not as made out.
Treeline is probably closer to 30ft back and a person would fit in the shady spot to the right.
Wide angle shot taken at head height with top half cropped off.
