Then I'm thinking it may be the amp. I'm contemplating buying a GK amp to pair with the cabs. I've owned a GK amp before and it was nice and sizzly. Any thoughts? And I do think I'm missing my 10's and the frequencies they reproduced. The 12's don't sound bad though.

I know you were responding to Tom, but IMHO the Shuttle 6's can sound pretty "even" and I've never had a problem getting a nice high end out of one.

I haven't played out of the 6, but I've played out of the 3 and the 12 Max, and I THINK those are voiced similarly. I think the only one that's different is the 9, which I haven't tried.

I will say this tho... at least IME, those profile buttons just do way too much to the sound in that amp. That's why I liked the Max so much, you could control how much each button did its thing (tho I still found myself avoiding them.) They sound pretty good solo at home, but on a gig, they just killed my cut.

Anyway, most of this is personal pref, so my idea may not work for ya, but hopefully it at least helps you figure something out if it doesn't work for ya.

I agree that this seems like some extreme EQ settings. Try starting with everything set flat and then tweak to taste little by little.

Ok, I'm starting to think it's my bass. I eased up on the settings and while I do have a nice bright sound, there was still no sizzle. Setting on the amp were; Bass @ 2 oclock, Low mids @ 9 oclock, High Mids @ noon, Treble maxed. I only had the Treble Boost engaged. Wasn't quite as boomy but still sat well in the mix. The band was happy. Drummer did mention he couldn't hear much HF but it could be where he was positioned. When I slapped and popped, it was nice and clear albeit old school sounding. No sizzle. I have Fender Noiseless pups on my bass. I'm considering changing them to something that gives me more top end! I need that sizzle.

I'll also try again using my Markbass LMII on the next gig (next month).

DW: maybe this has been asked, I haven't read back really far, but:
how old are your strings, and what kind?

Fresh rounds can make a change for the better in end top end response like that.

Streamliner 900 lands tomorrow.
Walkabout and M9 at hand.

I'm thinking two of these 112's would be a good thing for me.

Anyone done these combos?

I'm not opposed to an MB-Fusion either, but I'd assume that would be a great match.

The grill is actually steel and a bit heavy. I replaced mine with one from reliable hardware - custom sized for $35 or so. It looks better IMO - matches my other cabs and is a bit lighter.

How is the GK 112 matching up with the MB200? are you getting a good amount of volume?

I have four of the GK Neo 112 ll's. The stack of four is used with a Mesa 400+, with the cabs stacked four high. Very nice, great dispersion.

I've also used two of the cabs stacked vertically with my Walter Woods Ultra- the Woods being more similar to the Streamliner. Very, very nice. Filled a bar room nicely. The cabs are light too, which made the load in/out easy.

Can't give you all the Ken Jungish descriptors; don't really speak the language. I am interested in lowering the crossover for the tweets down to 4khz from their current 5khz. I think my ears are getting a little old, and I have a hard time hearing the high end sizzle from these cabs.

This is the grill with 3/16" holes. The original machine screws wont work so I had to use #10 sheet metal screws to hold the grill on. It seems nice and solid and hasn't budged after a bunch of gigs.

My god dude... that had to have sounded just awful.

First, turn those mid scoop and treble boost buttons off. With the Shuttle 6, leave the bass boost/extend on. Bring your all your tone controls back to flat. That should punch and zing nicely. Possibly a small boost in the lower mids might be needed. Set the tweeter attenuator at noon.

With those extreme settings, you are eliminating virtually all upper mids and lower treble, and are left with a super massive boost of upper treble that you probably can't even hear.

Ok, I did some fiddling around today and found some sizzle. But..........the 'booty' was now gone and I had to boost the volume a bit. Settings I started with were; Bass @ noon, Mid @ off, Mid Freq @ off, Treble maxed, Mid notch engaged (just don't like mids in my sound). I had to max the Bass knob. I had to boost the Gain & Volume and Master Volume to gain back some of the booty I was missing. I tried 3 different basses. The basses with Audere's in them don't seem to be a good match for the Shuttle. One bass has Barts and it sounded good and clean. I'm contemplating ditching the Audere's for something else. Maybe EMG's. One note though.....I had the amp hooked up to an Epifani PS112 instead of the GK's. I just didn't feel like pulling them out. Will do another test this weekend with the GK's.

If you had the 'Mid and Mid Freq off', you definitely sucked the booty out of the amp. That would be eliminated all the low mid and upper bass. That will not work with any cab.

If you must cut mids (don't quite get that, but OK), keep the mid control cut, and then slowly turn the mid freq clockwise until it sounds good to you (kind of backwards, but I think it will at least let you hear what is going on).

Again, with a slight bass boost (no more than 1 o'clock) with the 'bass boost engaged on the 6), and a SLIGHT cut in the mid area that you don't like (I will assume the mid mids... so the freq control between 11 and 2 o'clock), the other filters off, and then the treble control SLIGHLY boosted, you should have a very good, bright, punchy tone.
