GK MB 200: Part Two

You can always do the coffeehouse 10 thing with Parts Express mail order. There is a giant thread about it. It's a readymade empty car subwoofer cab all carpeted that coincidentally has just enough volume with porting for bass guitar tens. Iirc the sweetest is the basslite, kinda expensive these days.

Welp, I am going to use my mb200 (just arrived) as a preamp using the line-out to drive my Crest 2.0 Prolite power amp. Along with the mb200 I'll have a couple of micro pedals including the tc micro tuner, micro thumpinator (hpf) and mooer micro eq. All those pedals plus the mb200 only weigh 4LBS and gives tons of versatility and function.

With the Crest power amp it will be loud (with my fEARfuls) and will sound great.

Just picked up an MB200. So far, I love it. Very close to my RB700ii in tone. Great practice amp with a GK115 Neo. Great headphone amp. Will try it later in the week at rehearsal with a 212 Neo. Let's see how it holds up against two guitars and drums. :)

Gotta say, after a few days with my MB200, I'm loving it, and it has surpassed all my expectations. I figured on using it only as a headphone amp and for quiet practice, but it held its own in a full on jam session the other day, fighting against a loud drummer, vocals, keys, and two guitarists. The "GK watts are louder than X brand's watts" statement is definitely true! And it's so simple, light, and has the GK tone. Not a bad thing I can say about this head. It's already made some of my other gear obsolete. I won't get ahead of myself, but it's that good. I have mine mounted on my pedalboard since it's so small, and I wanted to have the ultimate portable practice rig in a box. Loving it!

Brought my MB200 and 212MBE-II cab to church for rehearsal for the first time. Praise band consists of drums/acoustic guitar/bass/keyboard and 4 voices set up in the chancel of the sanctuary. Guitar and keyboard each had their own amps as well. It worked perfectly in that situation. I have a jazz bass and had both pickups @100%. I dialed the bass back to 9:00, low mids @ noon, boosted the high mids to 3:00, treble @10:00, engaged the horn on the cab and got a real nice sound for the room. Gain was around 12:00. Not boomy/muddy but still plenty of low end, some punch and articulation. No pedals or effects at all, just the head and cab. I'm absolutely thrilled. Band liked it a lot too.

So, yeah, I spent the extra money and got the gig bag. I like the logo on the bag.....what can I say?? RMC Audio Direct had the lowest shipping rate. What really surprised me was how much stuff you could comfortably fit in there. One pocket is for the head (duh) and the second pocket is just as big and can hold a lot of stuff. I comfortably packed an 18' instrument cable, 6' instrument cable, 18' mic cable, the power cord, and a 3' speakon to speakon cable. And there is room for more. That was a surprise. Here are a couple pics.

Nice case. Glad I didn't see it before I bought another case.
I grabbed this one from target:

A little smaller storage pocket, but cheaper and available nearby...

Which cab should I get first to go with the MB200? The 115MBE-II or the 210MBE-II?

I'm going to pull the trigger on the MB200 shortly, but currently can only afford one cab to go with it. I eventually want to have both the 115MBE-II and the 210MBE-II. They are both 8 ohms, loaded with Neos, and rated up to 400 watts so I'm not worried about mixing driver sizes as this head won't push either cab past its tolerance. I'm just not sure which cab will start me off with more volume until I have the opportunity to buy the second cab a couple months later?

If it helps, I'm not currently gigging, just jamming with a couple guitarists and a drummer playing rock/hard rock. Currently getting by in this arrangement with an Ampeg BA115 combo (100W).
