GK MB212 Ordered!

I ordered mine from MusiciansFriend.com and used the 20% off coupon listed in the "Hot Deals" forum here on TB. So I got the combo, a 3 year extended warranty (even protects against me dropping it, spilling beer), a new instrument cable and a couple of other odds and ends ALL for under $700!!!! :hyper:

20%? I just canceled my Music123 order and placed one with MF for a 212. Estimated ship date: 10/30 Link Removed

I wouldn't go on faith either, but I say that for a positive reason. I ordered the 1001RB-II/NEO 212 last month. It's been out of production for a while, but I called GK and they just happened to still have a few units sitting in their warehouse and they sold it to me. Still brand new. This is was just last month!
Any of you looking at one of the MB combos, I'd say call GK and see if they still have any 1001/neo212 combos left. RMC Audio has them at $1049, and GC price matched it for my order.
This is all unless of course you like the MB's better. I was just putting it out there.

So I put a note out there in another thread asking why the MB212 combo @ 39 lbs is so much lighter than the GK Neo II 212 cab @ 50ish lbs. Bob Gallien replied with the following. Good info!

When we designed the MB combos we made weight a major design criterion. The Neo woofers, cabinet material and Tolex are the same.
The weight savings are as follows:
1. The Neo212-II is quite a bit larger than the MB212, adding a few pounds.
2. The grill in the MB212 is aluminum verses steel in the Neo212, saving several pounds.
3. The Neo212 is set up for our horn bi-amp system which adds several pounds.
4. The Neo212 has two steel side handles adding a few pounds.
5. A 500Wdigital amplifier in an aluminum chassis only adds 3 pounds.

Good stuff! All I know is that when I picked up the MB212 at Summer NAMM, I was stunned at how light it was. Then, I was amazed at how good it sounded. Finally, when Brian told me the price, I was floored at how affordable it is.

Barring any major bumps in the road, GK should have a real winner, here.

Can't wait to get your take on this cab. Seems like it is light enough for the smaller gigs but puts out enough thump for the bigger gigs.

Are you gonna be at the NoVA/DC/MD GTG with this beast?

the horsepower to weight ratio was a huge factor in my getting the MB combo. and the external output was the main factor in getting the 2x10 instead of the 2x12.
