GK new MBP Powered Enclosures? (More info please!)

I have a MBP410-II that's great! Loads of power and very easy to move around.

BTW, G-K has respec'd the output section of the MBP cabinets. The MBP212-II is now rated at 350 watts. Only the MBP410-II is rated at 500 watts. EDIT NOTE - Glad to see this was an website error as rag states below.

I just checked the web site, there is an error regarding the 212MBP power rating. The 212MBP has always been and will always be 500W. I will have the error corrected tomorrow.

...soooo has anyone run one of these puppies off a DI?

My amp (Promethean 500H) only has a 0db level DI - but I have an an UltraSound Pre/DI that can do +10dbU balanced - which Mr. Gallien points out earlier in this tread - is what it'll take to run MBP cabs...

Will it work?
How does it sound?

I played the MB212 Combo with an MBE212 powered extension cab in-store. The sound was Pure GK. The overall volume capability was INSANE, and the form factor was awesome. For many, many gigging players this is a genius solution; The combo for most gigs, the two together for that REALLY loud gig with that jerk guitarist Jerry who insists on dragging out BOTH Marshall 412's to every gig.... screw you Jerry.

I've got the MB212-II/212MBP stack sitting at home just BEGGING to be let loose on a couple guitarists and loud drummers I know.

No haven't tried it but I think it depends on how much you get out of your pre?
I think the GK powered amps expect a nominal +10 dbu at the input. For reference the balanced line output of a mic mixer is nominally +4 dbu which is about half volume compared to +10, if I did my cipherin' properly. So you may not get the full potential of the amp/cab unless you can get up to +10.

You can try it but likely it won’t have enough output.

I would use the headphone out, not the line btw.

Interesting that such a small pedal preamp as the Plex can deliver enough juice, but a regular pre-amp or proper interface only get half of the amount.

What would be needed te re-routed in the cab to make it work as it does now, but then with everything it gets thrown at?
