GK rails in a pedal?

man it was a beeotch (!!!) etching this one (and everything just barely fit in it). I don't think that i'll be etching any more enclosures for these.

Perhaps I shouldn't speak up since I'm not a GK user, but doing my research (and being at least passingly familiar with GK) it seems to me the "Rails" tone is the sound of having enough power on tap - ie NO power sag or artifacts of speaker inertia. For the record, I have used a variety of GKs and don't use them precisely because (to my ear) they are "too clean".
It would see pretty difficult to simulate MORE power with a pedal - as a rule pedals are used to make amps sound like they are exceeding that limit (ie distorting/overdriving).
Hopefully I'm wrong since so many of you want that.

The power amp schematic that I was 'shrinking' for this circuit is a 1982 GK 100W/300W dual power amp.

If having more than enough power available is the GK 'rails' tone, than ANY power amp that had the same or more power would have that same sound in theory. What several people here have said is that the 400RB is better/easier at getting that sound than the 800RB. The main difference between those two amps is the power output section, the 800RB has more power. Then if more power is that GK tone why is it easier to get that tone with the 400RB?

Fair enough - like I said, I probably shouldn't have spoken up. I was responding to the original post, rather than the attempts to get that tone that came later.
As I say, I hope I'm wrong (and looks like I am) since so many of you want that tone.
Sorry if I sounded like I was crapping in anyone's cornflakes - definitely NOT my intention.

This thread has really tuned into a science experiment, where theories and experiences for this 'rails' tone are being examined and hopefully tested. I have only played thru a GK a handful of times, so I am probably the least knowledgeable and experienced person with the GK sound. But, I love testing theories and I believe by making a "mini" GK power amp, with the same circuitry, is a good start for more analyzing.

I am VERY open to any theories that people might have of where this sound is created. So, thanks for giving us your theory. My response to your post wasn't intended to poke you in the eye, but to compare your theory to the experiences that have been stated by others.
