Gold hardware

That may be true. I see "gold anodize" thrown around, which is not a gold plating.
Now I'm wondering if any real gold plating is used, maybe for high-end instruments? I have worked with gold plating in my work and it can be a finicky process. Sometimes it comes out with a highly polished, mirror finish. Other times it is more of a matte finish, probably not desirable for bass guitar hardware. But that might be a process issue that can be controlled.

I put bling on this one 'cuz I thought it was an aesthetic improvement over the OEM chrome. And the strings are 24k gold (plated).

On my Yamaha BBN5A the golden tuners are sort of semi-corroded. Knobs are ok and the bridge is immaculate, because it is made by brass.
My Fernandes came with gold hardware. Didn't bother me for about 2.5 years then one day I looked at it and went "ewwww gross"

I forgot that the Rumblekat had that gold hardware. I guess it wasn't as big a problem as my "trapezoid shaped body" thing.

Generally, I'm a no on this (I prefer silver or black on my basses). I voted "conditional" though, because I think it actually looks great on a black instrument, better even than the silver or black.
I’m just wondering why the deliberate use of “wrong handed” tuners for the G & B strings?
Even got a gold fretwrap for him recently but the photo is meh to me lol
I'm not a huge fan of gold hardware. My first good guitar was a Gibson LPC with gold hardware and it was constantly turning green. After about 10 years it all wore off the TOM bridge. It looks like brass now after 33 ish years.
It's not wrong, actually that's the correct way, since outer strings are running opposite direction, but turning the machine head will stay same direction as others. I heard they did that way to keep the tension even over heastock
My 1998 Yamaha five string has the gold hardware on it. The bass is translucent green, so it works. Otherwise I don't go out of my way to get it. For the most part I like chrome or black.
I have always preferred gold hardware on basses with dark natural wood finishes.
Gold accents dark woods.
Now,I do have a Ibanez BTB bass with nickel chrome hardware.
And I would change out the hardware if I could get the right size gold saddles.
But I can't seem to find replacements.
I also have an NS/Stick with a black tailpiece.I'm not even going to mess with that.
