I'm noticing a larger than usual number of basses with gold hardware these days...
Not a big gold plating fan. With oils and acidity of my hands, it would look like crap shortly.

Ugh, I love that bass. Brief details? Ibanez? Rosewood?
I've had 2 with gold. Still have the 51 p bass, the aged hardware sits nicely with the color of the bass. The precision was just crazy awesome, but the neck was just to P-wide at the nut for me, not usually a fan of gold, but it does pop at times, lolView attachment 4866864 View attachment 4866866
Frankly I doubt anybody plates guitar hardware with "real" gold. Maybe it's just me...Gold does not corrode, oxidize or rust. If your gold is doing that, it's not a real gold plating. It is on the soft side, so if the plating is thin, it can wear through. But corrosion should not be a problem with real gold.
