Same reason Foderas, F Bass, and Ken Smith basses cost what they cost. You want the best, you're going to pay for it. Warwick custom shop basses are easily on par with any of the other $8k+ crowd.

No doubt. It's why I play Modulus basses, but even my Mods aren't priced like that.

Squiers, actually. I'm pretty sure "Thou shall spendeth no more than $300 on a bass." is one of the >10 Commandments. Right after "Thou shalt not covet another man's bass", of which most everyone here is guilty. (Come to think of it, most everyone here is guilty of the previous commandment too.) Shame on all of you! Avert your eyes, and cast your lustful gazes elsewhere, lest ye be cursed to wander the desert looking for tone for the next 40 years! (Which, come to think of it...)

Oh, I like the occasional fancy bass - I have a really nice Smith... but this one is a bit much and I've never had any use for LED fret markers.
