Goodbye Greg Lake

Oh man...Emerson and Lake in the same year! Way back, I remember going to the Olympic Stadium in Montreal to hear ELP on their (abridged) tour with a 63-piece orchestra. Now, the Big Owe is a poured-concrete mess of a stadium with horrendous acoustics, but when Greg Lake sang "Lucky Man" you could have heard a pin drop in there. It was one of those magic moments in my concert-going life, and I feel blessed to have been there. And now he's gone. I wish him every joy in his next journey.
I was there too.
Very sad am I today.

Just take a pebble and cast it to the sea. Then watch the ripples that unfold into me.

Can't decide whether to have the feels to From The Beginning or rock out to Carnevil.

RIP Emerson and Lake.

Humorous aside: I like to tell non-music people that ELP was the secret band of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Ricki Lake, and Arnold Palmer. They sometimes believe me =0)

Saw ELP touring behind Brain Salad Surgery. About 20 minutes in the FOH went belly up and everything stopped and the lights went up while a frantic search ensued for the problem. About 5 minutes later the lights went down for a few seconds then a single spot hit the front of the stage and there was Greg Lake with a flat top sitting on a stool and proceeded to do an almost 30 minute rendetion of Lucky Man. Stage monitors were working and the crowd was so taken you could have heard a pin drop the whole time he was keeping us entertained while the crew found and fixed the booboo.

RIP Mr. Lake. I was indeed a lucky man to have witnessed your powerful talent.

I always thought how cool if my last name was Palmer. I would name my child Emerson Lakin Palmer

My roommate in college was a huge ELP fan (1978), and I became a fan too after hearing them constantly for a few months.

I feel guilty, I never new he was a bass player. At the time I only knew classical music, so didn't know or care who played what in the pop world.

It was nice to hear ELP on the radio on the way in to work today, I did miss their stuff, it doesn't get played on classic rock stations much any more.
