Goodbye Greg Lake

"There's no end to my life, no beginning to my death. Death is life."

:(

I was at this concert. So were about 200,000 other people. Last 3 bands were (in order) Black Sabbath (original line-up) Deep Purple (first big show with Coverdale and Hughes) and ELP at the height of their success and power. Whenever ELP threatened to collapse under the weight of bombast and pretense, there would be Greg with is guitar and a simple honest voice.

Man...I just read an interview with him in my latest issue of either Bass Player or Guitar Player, but I don't recall reading ANYTHING about the guy having cancer...:(
…and I only recently pulled out my Sept. '74 Guitar Player with the Greg Lake cover to compare with his feature in the current issue of Bass Player.

RIP.

I could only watch the Cali Jam when late nite TV got around to showing it (In Concert programme)?
Great bands...great performances.

There's YouTube footage out there...

Frak me.

Glad I saw them... first time in '77 (Works Vol 1) I was jealous that he was surrounded by a semi-circle of Alembic basses and guitars. Again in '78 or '79, and again between Dream Theater and Deep Purple in the 90s or early 00s.

From Greg Lake's facebook timeline : "Yesterday, December 7th, I lost my best friend to a long and stubborn battle with cancer. Greg Lake will stay in my heart forever, as he has always been. His family would be grateful for privacy during this time of their grief. Many thanks, Stewart Young"

RIP Mr. Lake, enjoyed your music much over the years.

Meanwhile.............Seriously, it's not going to get better as the older we get the better the odds of our alarm not waking us up from the impending dirt nap. 2017 has a better chance of being worse.
