Goodwill bass

I had a two pickup version (Kay B2?) in the mid 70s. My first bass. The action was awful, and I consequently developed the finger strength of a gibbon. Not a wide palette of sounds, but it was my first bass so anything was wonderful to me.

My local thrift shop keeps coming up with vintage tennis racquets, like Bjorn Borg and Virginia Wade signature models and Often in phenomenal condition. I wonder if there's any value there. I almost feel like buying them all up for some reason. There's very rarely anything guitar related though but I did get a nice Yamaha keyboard for $10 and of course my beer glass collection.

That's a late 1960's Japanese Matsumoku Gibson EB-0 copy. Definitely worth more than $30, BUY IT!

That is a Kay bass...or one its copies. Yup, even Kay had cheaper copies made of them. The sell often on eBay for around $150 to collectors.
I just purchased a late 60s Kay body for $20. I have a wonderfully straight and chunky early Epiphone neck that it will live with. I'll throw in some Seymour or DiMarzio Pickups and have some cheap fun!
If the neck is straight and frets are good, and you can swap out electronics yourself, it would be a fun project.
It is not worth paying someone to fix it for you. So if there are any issues, leave it at Goodwill.

Truly and for serious! That's thing keeps dragging my eye up and left. Between the retro-styling and the blue-hued, reflective surface, that thing is right up my alley whether it works or not! drool

A rather nice score. However, A new bridge is necessary (as well as fresh strings). A good clean up as well and you got yourself a ~200$ bass.

Bridge is fine, and the strings provide exactly the sound a bass of that era was built to have. I think it is perfect as-is.

it should be very stable.

Oh yes. If you took it down to the convenience store and put it under the heat lamps on the fried chicken bin for a week it wouldn't warp. Score !
