For the most part, I don't have any problems with neighbours, as where I practice, we have a 5 acre lot, and I don't practice loudly at night, so it works out fine. On fourth of July last year we did get a cop at our house though. Not for music, but because someone in the development about a half mile away, primarily dominated by old people, called the cops reporting "exploding transformers". Those would be our fireworks.......and there aren't any power lines nearby......We hid the fireworks and pretended like we had no idea what the report could have been about. The irony is some of the fireworks were brought over by another cop.
The worst dealing I've had with a neighbour was over my dog. Me and my dad were working on a neighbours house stripping and repainting/staining the deck, and our golden retriever (maybe a year old, if that), is pretty energetic, and is wandering around. No big deal, dogs on our road are out roaming all the time, none of them cause any problems. Anyways, at the far end of the neighbours property, there's a fence separating someone else's land, and there was this cow grazing along the fence, so our dog goes to check out the cow. Me and my dad pay no mind, since our dog is pretty submissive and not aggressive in the least. Next thing we know, the land owner is out on his deck with a compound bow yelling "Your d@mn dog better not come on to my property, or you'll never see it again!" I just about lost it. Seriously. My dad had to keep me from going ape-S#!t at the guy. I'm not usually hot headed, but we'd never even spoken to this guy before, and he had the audacity to come out, and instead of asking us politely to make sure our dog didn't trespass, flat threaten to kill our dog. I don't usually get real mad at stuff, but you better not threaten my animals.
Turns out he'd had some chickens killed...............by his own dog.........FACEPALM
