Got a Sadowsky

Brand new NYC delivered yesterday. Shoreline gold (I love Gooooooold!) ash body and rosewood board. VTC.

So far I like it. Light weight, very resonant. No severe dead spots. Sounds nice in the living room. The real test is at band practice this Friday.

Tighter B-string sound, at least in theory. I've got a regular p pickguard for it as well, so I can switch later if I want.
The B, E, and A are tighter and more growly, while there's more 'pop' on the D and G when they're slapped. I think it's also fair to say that overall string balance is improved. OTOH, you don't get the traditional P-bass vibe: phatness on the low strings, sweet singing tone on the high ones.

Very cool that you have the spare guard and will be able to switch if you want! That's a great feature.

How can you switch it later on? Is there a larger route in the body that lets you swap back and forth?

Yes. There is a universal route, and with the different pickups, you can change the configuration (without having to do any rewiring, I might add).
