Got chased by an idiot around a mall...

Also, it bears repeating. The incident with the knives was about 20 years ago (as was the mall incident). These days, when I'm being followed, I drive to a public place or a police station. Then take things from there. If neither is an option, I'll do whatever I have to to get home alive.

Nope. Not a victim. Criminal. Pulling a weapon over a minor traffic incident when your life isn't threatened makes you a criminal.

One day, you'll run across someone who 1)isn't intimidated by your weapon and 2) has a bigger better weapon.

If course you're right. Much better for me to let someone like this force me off the road or worse. You'd have me be another victim and call me the criminal for defending myself against someone who perceives me as someone they can victimize?

You're on the wrong side of the law pal. Guys like you are the reason guys like me exist. Think about that for a while.

I generally try to keep a cool head on the road. One thing that is an instant 0 - 60 for me (pun intended) is when someone honks their horn at me when I'm in the right. Call me the Mr. Rogers of the Road, but I generally observe the legal requirement to stop before a stop sign and then pull forward into a blind spot before leaving an intersection. I know this annoys some people, but you can be cited for running a stop sign if you pass the stop sign before pulling into the blind spot, especially if you go over a cross-walk. I once had someone honk their horn at me for doing this. Instant road rage.

I try to keep it in check, because road rage is dangerous for everyone; however, anyone who drives any amount of time will generally experience it once in a while.

So the guy that stopped behind you...did he threaten you in some way? Did you feel safer by exiting your large metal cage to stand in his headlights with your weapons......so that he could just run you over if so inclined?

Guys like me? With all due respect, I've probably forgotten more about self defense than you've gleaned in your lifetime.

I perceive people who tailgate for extended periods and then don't pass when I slow down or pull over as a direct threat to my health and well being. Likewise people who are clearly following me (and not a friend or family member who doesn't know how to get somewhere) are also perceived as a threat.

I take any and all threats against myself or someone I care about seriously. If you don't, that's your business.

Since you apparently missed the last two times I mentioned it, I'll say it a THIRD time. Pay attention. The incident with the knives happened 20 YEARS AGO. I'm 41 now. Do the math. Surely you never did anything that you could have handled better when you were younger. Mere imperfect mortals like myself make brash decisions before outgrowing our invincibility complex.

Of course you never had one of those either, right?:scowl:

So, when you feel threatened by these people, you feel your best course of action is to exit you vehicle, step in front of theirs and wield a contact weapon?

Now, after all that, hopefully you've got it. Now, you can comment. I'm tired of explaining the obvious.

Seriously though, we're only talking about minor fender benders. Look, if you want to follow me for a minute and scream bad words at me to make yourself feel better then buzz off, fine. I'm not riding around looking for a fight. But if you want to tail me from 6 inches back and follow me through a neighborhood after I turn off the main road to avoid you, be prepared for a break check. K? It's not as though I am taking my pistol out of the glove box and shooting at anyone. I don't even scream back at them. One of the two situations the guy got out and wanted to make a scene after taking a look at his front bumper. I simply threw him back into his car and politely asked him to sit still until the authorities arrived.

He got his car fixed. I bought my kids a jump house with the check from his insurance company for my "damage". Nobody got hurt. He learned a valuable lesson about manners.

Seems like a good story until you go getting all "lofty" on me. You are a lot of fun at parties, aren't you?

I am going to try here......

I call some of my best friends and closest family members "idiot" all the time. It just happens to be one of my favorite words. They usually don't deserve it.......

Be that as it may, that scenario is one of established relationships. Since I have no such relationship with anyone on here, the given example has no relevance to the question as it pertains to the context here.
